Itinerary

Costa Maya (Pass By)

Once we ride our vehicle it will take 1hr 30 mins to get to Calakmul Site, making a quick stop on the road to get some food. Once we get to our final destination we will have about 15 mins to use facilities if needed and then start exploring the site. The ruins will take around 3.5 hours, and right after we finish the tour we will have about 10 min to use facilities, to finally getting on the vehicle to drive straight back to hotel unless you require some special stops for pictures. NOTE: If you have a specific request please let me know so I can customize the tour for you.

Calakmul - great day trip from Bacalar with amazing tour guide

Carlos was a great guide for my trip to the ancient Maya Ruins of Calakmul. After a pick-up from my hotel in Bacalar he drove us to the remote Calakmul location (4 hours drive one way). The ruins are really impressive, second biggest Maya City found and in the middle of the jungle. Carlos was such a valuable guide, sharing his great knowledge of the Maya culture in absolutely great English. His knowledge was underlayed with maps and pictures he has brought for the tour. Also he gave individual free time to climb the ruins and enjoy the stunning views. Highly recommended to book with Carlos if you are interested in a local tour guide with great knowledge and able to answer your questions :)

Despite being one of the smaller Mayan city complexes Cacchoban is well worth a visit, especially with Carlos as an extremely knowledgeable guide. His insight was invaluable to appreciating the experience rather than just visiting the site ourselves. His patience with our young children also made the experience much more enjoyable. I’d thoroughly recommend him as a guide for anyone visiting from Costa Maya, Bacalar or near by.
