    We start our tour crossing the 25 de Abril bridge (identical to the S. Francisco bridge in) towards the sanctuary of Cristo Rei

  • Castelo de Palmela

    Inhabited since prehistoric times, due to the privileged and strategic location, Palmela shows you traces of various cultures and the passing of time. There are several churches for you to visit and also a convent that belongs to Santiago Order now turned into a hostel. From that point you can catch sight of both "Tejo" River and Sado River.

    Crossing the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, one of the most complete and protected Portuguese parks over 500 meters high, with a fabulous view of the Sado river estuary, where we have a resident colony of dolphins not very common for this class of mammals. Upon booking it is possible to take a boat trip to see this fantastic family of mammals. With the whitish tones of its limestone cliffs, the blue of the waters and the green of the vegetation covering the Arrábida mountain range, a combination of colors that results in a unique image.

Adega da Mata, where the Periquita wine ages, Adega dos Teares Novos, where the Irmandade do Periquita takes place annually and Adega dos Teares Velhos, where the house's oldest Moscatéis rest.

Amazing day on beautiful landscape with the best tour company

Our Guide John is simple wonderful!! We decide to make a day to enjoy the landscape close to Lisbon with a wine tasting and we choose the best company !!! The places we visit, great restaurant in Sesimbra, the wine tasting. The best of all was our guide John. Is passion for Portugal and is knowledge is great. Exploring the natural beauty of Portugal!

This was the first of several private tours we took with Kitzel and it did not disappoint. Joao (John) was a terrific tour guide as we explored the Natural Park of Arrabida and the surrounding area. We started with a stop in Palmela at a site of a former convent. The views were breathtaking and gave us a good orientation of the Arrabida national park. From there we made a stop in Setubal to visit a farmer's market, a lively market with fresh fish, fruit/vegetables, and other local delicacies. This lead to a scenic drive through the Natural Park of Arrabida before stopping for lunch in Sesimbra that offered a beautiful view of the beach/ocean while we were eating. We had a little bit of time before wine tasting, and Joao took us to a tile making manufacturer, where we received a free private tour. It was interesting to learn about the tile making process. Our tour ended with wine tasting in Azeitão at the José Maria da Fonseca wineries. There was a brief tour of the facility before we got to sample two types of wine. Joao was a fantastic guide throughout the day, never making us feel rushed. It was like a friend showing you around the area. He was a wealth of information no matter where we went and gave us plenty of time to walk around and explore at our own pace. This tour provided a beautiful view of the area about an hour southeast of Lisbon - from beaches to cliff views it was time well spent. Thank you Joao and Kitzel tours for providing such a positive, memorable experience!

Awesome day seeing landscape outside of the city

We had a wonderful full day with Joao! He was so informative, and energetic and took us to places we would never have had an opportunity to visit ourselves. Our family enjoyed the day thoroughly. I highly recommend booking this tour with him.

Fabulous chance to experience the beauty of Portugal

Jaoa was very informative and kind as he took my adult daughter and me on a lovely tour of the countryside and small towns. The scenery was spectacular and he gave us some time to absorb it. We loved visiting the large indoor market, taking in breathtaking views while in the park and at the Cabo, the visit to a tile making workshop, and the wine tasting. We enjoyed a delicious lunch - got the cod special. Jaoa is a very safe driver and shared his wealth of knowledge and love of his country with us.

We booked this tour and Joao was our tour guide he is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and sets priorities for his tour members. We arrived just a day before our tour and did not have any euros and the store would not take my credit card he offered to take care of it until I could pay him back.
