Overview

Sail on a special river, in the heart of the first demarcated wine region in the world, and a UNESCO heritage site. We start in Pinhão, passing under the Eiffel iron bridge, sailing up the river to the Roncão area, returning to Pinhão. You will see terraced vineyards right down to the river, in a landscape without national roads or road traffic. Although the section of river on the way back is the same, it could very well be different, as when seen from another direction it creates completely different views and landscapes. Traditional Rabelo boats have open and closed areas, allowing comfortable navigation at any time of year and weather. Ideal for 2 hour view of the river and vineyards

For what we wanted to do, this cruise was perfect. The views were spectacular from the boat. There was a guide who gave some history but it was more of a chat with couples rather than a broadcast. There is an app you can use with different languages if you want. We already knew the basic history from a previous wine tour in Porto, so we were happy just to see the sights. This is a basic tour, no wine tastings etc. there are plenty of wineries such as Quinta Bomfim which are only 5 minutes walk from where the boat is moored. If you are staying in Pinhão and just want to cruise up the river, this cruise is great value for money.

Just enjoy the river

We looked for a tour where we could just enjoy the Douro river and valley, without a bus ride or forced visits to vineyards. This option was perfect, with a good audio guide for the hour ride along the beautiful Douro valley from Pinhao to Foz do Tua and the same time back. A great experience.

Excellent tour of the Duoro River. Seeing the Quintas in a rabelo was very interesting. Make sure you bring your headphones and you need to have cell data to download the app

We had two hours of stunning beauty and a cloudless sky. They provided an audioguide to listen on our phones which described what we were seeing. It was wonderful.
