Overview

One of the most rewarding hikes in Sierra Calderona natural park, which combines hiking with local heritage and great views from the Serra castle. On top of that you'll enjoy the sunset and the spectre of colours that it brings.

Itinerary

We will start the hike from the town of Serra and do the route to the IX century Moorish castle. You will learn the history of the area and also get to visit the remains of two of the three watchtowers that helped to monitor the area. The best part of the trip is getting to the Serra castle where we will make a stop to watch the sunset. The route is quite easy, mostly on gravel roads, only the final short part of the ascent being on a rockier terrain. Total length is 8 kilometres with 200 meters elevation gain.

Beautiful hike in the hills over Valencia. Well led by Dimitri, keeping an eye on my elderly companion! Enjoyed the Castillo at the summit and surprise waterfall hidden in trees. Thanks to our guide!

Everything about the hike was excellent. The organization and organizer Dimitri to start with. The trail up-hill to the castle was challenging, but surrounded by nature and having a goal makes any challenge worthwhile! The breathtaking views at the top left me speechless. Watching the sunset at the top of the mountain cannot leave you immune to the wonder of nature and life itself. Thanks to Valencia Mountain Enthusiasts for organizing such lovely walking trips!

Hiking with Dmitry in Serra to watch the sunset was a beautiful and extremely enjoyable hike! From start to finish the whole trip was very well organised and comfortable, with great guidance from Dmitry along routes. Would absolutely recommend it to any hiking enthusiasts that enjoy walking along some of the most beautiful routes in Valencia.
