Overview

Stroll down the local neighborhoods of Chora, Naxos main town, and learn about local life. In the company of your guide, you’ll make the rounds of the local produce market the way the Naxos people do. Pick and choose your own local, fresh, seasonal produce, bursting with fragrances, colors, and flavor. You’ll be putting your vegetables to good use during the cooking course that will follow. Your route will take you to the cobblestone maze-like alleys of the Chora castle. Visit local shops and sample different kinds of cheeses and liqueurs. Your walk will end at a small traditional taverna where you’ll meet our talented chef. She will show you step by step, how to make traditional appetizers and the renowned Greek salad. Next, comes the greatest part of the tour. We’ll all be sitting down to share the dishes you made yourself, along with another Greek traditional dish prepared by our chef. We’ll raise our glasses, toast each other, and enjoy a day spent in enjoying and experiencing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Trekking Hellas Naxos! It was great to get a tour through the town and learn more about the history of Naxos! We also enjoyed learning how to prepare 5 different appetizer type dishes at a local restaurant, with everything we made being delicious! Getting to stop and taste different local cheeses and liqueur was another bonus! We would highly recommend booking this experience!

Great experience learning about some of the fascinating areas of Naxos. Be aware that this is not just a cooking class, but a trek around the town. We went to a local market to buy the produce we would later use to prepare our side dishes. The end of the tour at a local taverna where we learned to prepare a variety of Greek delicacies was very informative and fun! We especially enjoyed making Tzatziki and Zucchini fritters. Looking forward to trying these recipes at home. Thanks for a great day!

Anastasia was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide who took us to both the local and touristy parts of town to shop for ingredients and learn about Naxos. The meal we ultimately prepared at the taverna was outstanding. We had a fantastic day!
