Overview

We offer a local naxian farm experience where you can see our farm animals like chickens rabbits pigs peacocks and collect the eggs! You will be guided through the olive and fruit trees and you will taste seasonal fruits and our extra virgin olive oil! We will collect also vegetables and the famous naxian potato! We will taste naxian wine, raki and Naxos variety of cheese! We will cook together with our grandmother naxian recipes from the products that we have collected before! We will also dance naxian local dances!"

Itinerary

The tour commences at a family-owned farm located near the village of Melanes. To begin with, guests will have the opportunity to meet a diverse range of farm animals, including chickens, rabbits, pigs, peacocks, and more. You will also have the opportunity to engage in collecting the day's freshly laid eggs. Following that, a visit to the olive groves will allow you to learn about the methods employed to cultivate healthy trees and produce top-quality olive oil. Subsequently, we will guide you through the potato fields, introducing you to the renowned Naxian potato. You will then have the chance to explore various fruit trees, sampling the delicious seasonal fruits they yield. Next on the itinerary is a visit to the vineyard and vegetable garden, where you can gather the finest seasonal produce. Finally, you will collaborate in cooking traditional Naxian recipes over a wood fire. This culinary adventure will include preparing a Naxian omelet and an appetizer such as zucchini balls, tzatziki as a dip, savoring Naxian potatoes, sampling a variety of Naxos cheeses, preparing a main dish such as "briam" or "gemista" and enjoying locally produced house wine.

I wholeheartedly rate this cooking class a perfect 10 out of 10! As residents of the USA with a strong appreciation for clean, chemical-free food, my boyfriend and I were eager for an authentic culinary experience in Naxos, and this class exceeded our expectations in every way. Nikos, our instructor, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making us feel warmly welcomed as guests in his familyā€™s home. His commitment to a family-first lifestyle truly enhanced the experience. Although we initially missed our scheduled class due to getting lost, Nikos graciously accommodated us by allowing us to join the next dayā€™s session, ensuring we didnā€™t miss out. I highly recommend this class to anyone seeking a genuine culinary experience in Greece. We also appreciated receiving all the recipes afterward, which was a wonderful bonus. Overall, this experience was truly unforgettable!

The farm and cooking experience at Perivoli was tranquil and fantastic! We came at the end of the season and ended up having just the two of us with Nikos guiding us around his family farm. He was friendly, kind, and a gracious host. We tried olive oil squeezed between our fingers, oranges, and pomegranates plucked from the branch. Such a gem! Thank you so much Nikos!

Upon arrival you meet a few farm animals, pick eggs and learn about local agriculture. Too fully immerse yourself in the food you prepare, it is a valuable part! After a short uphill climb you learn more about the fruit and grapes. We enjoyed fresh pomegranate and moved on to lunch. We is the preparation and ā€œgrandpaā€ does the cooking. Itā€™s amazing!

This was so much fun! It was really interesting to learn about olive trees and the pressing process as well as the rest of the farm. We went on a ā€œfresh egg huntā€ that were used to make an omelet for us later.

A once in a lifetime activity

We had a blast during this experience. Nikos meets everyone at the entrance and starts the tour shortly after. You meet his farm animals and collect eggs that will be used for the cooking portion later. Next, he shares the history of his olive trees and you learn how they harvest them. After that, he walks you to his fruit trees and we all were able to eat many pomegranates (that were extremely delicious). Once heā€™s done giving you the tour, you start the cooking portion. You learn how to make many foods and they serve you wine and juice. The family was adorable and Nikos was so kind. This was such a unique experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Naxos.
