Overview

One of the most important moments in the History of Portugal was the so-called "Discoveries Age". On this tour you get to know more about the impact of the 15th century Portuguese discoveries in the fields of geography, astronomy, gastronomy, botany and zoology. We will also speak about the trade and cultural relations between Portugal and Japan, China, Malaysia, Korea, Timor and other Asian countries. What To Expect

1. Museu de Marinha Visit the Maritime Museum. Admire the 18th century Royal Promenade Boats. See the interior of a 19th century Royal yacht. 1 hour 30 minutes

2. Padrao dos Descobrimentos Admire the Monument to the Discoveries. Learn how the Portuguese Colonial Empire was created. 20 minutes

3. Torre de Belem Admire one of Lisbon's most famous monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the amazing view of the Tejo River. Learn more about the defensive system of the capital of the former Colonial Empire. 30 minutes

4. Mosteiro dos Jeronimos Visit the interior of this magnificent manueline style church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the Royal tombs of the 16th century Portuguese Monarchs. See the tomb of the great Portuguese navigator: Vasco da Gama. Please note that during religious ceremonies the acess to the chuch can be restricted. 20 minutes

Nuno was a very knowledgeable guide who made the tour an enjoyable experience. His relaxed pace made it easy to get around Belém and we saw everything we wanted and more. This was a great tour!
