Overview

Our experience is an educational tour to learn about the culture of mezcal and all the tradition that surrounds it. We will begin our trip starting from the center of the city of Oaxaca and we will visit the towns of Mitla and Matatlán. There we will take a walking tour through our majestic agave fields with thousands of specimens, where we will be able to learn more about this plant, as well as having enough time to do a couple of activities and of course the best photographs. Then we will continue to an artisan mezcal distillery to learn step by step, the entire artisan process of making our drink. At the end of the tour, we will have an unlimited tasting of different varieties of mezcal. Finally, we will share a traditional Oaxacan meal at a local restaurant, already included, and of course, More Mezcal!

  • Santiago Matatlan

    We will visit a mezcal factory to learn step by step, the entire artisanal process of making our drink. At the end of the tour, we will have an unlimited tasting of different varieties of mezcal, where you can learn about the different categories and classes.

    We will take a tour of our majestic agave fields with thousands of specimens, where we can learn more about this plant, as well as having enough time to do a couple of activities and of course the best photographs.

A Day Journey Everyone should take when visiting Oaxaca!

Do not miss this awesome day trip! You will receive a complete overview of how mezcal is produced. Ricardo, our guide was passionate, energetic and very knowledgeable on Mezcal. Ricardo made this day- adventure very enjoyable for all. You first start off at the Agave fields where you learn about the plant and get to take some incredible photos. Later you move on to La Palenqueria where you will go through the entire process of making mezcal and finally the tasting area. Do not worry, you will get to sample Mezcal from start to finish. And, you can taste all grades of Mezcal. We did not get drunk or tipsy! We had dinner reservations that night! This is much better than spending an hour or two in a room tasting different types of Mezcal. You will get the full experience on Mezcal! An experience to remember!

Our tour guide Eloida was great! she was knowledgeable, fun, friendly, she really gave us a great experience. The van and ride were so comfortable, the food and restaurant at the end of the tour was so good. The people in the tour were so much fun and friendly (of course after so much Mezcal tasting), my husband and I love Mezcal and this tour really help us connect with the culture and greatly appreciate and respect the Mezcal makers! It truly is a piece of Heaven! it was so much fun!!! and I would do it again!

Absolutely incredible experience and a must do if you want to learn about this wonderful gift of the gods. Super presentation by a first class tour company. I immediately felt right at home with my hosts and soon became fast friends with my fellow travelers thanks to the friendliness and jovial nature of our lovely guide. the tour of the palenque was fascinating and the taste testing quite exceptional. the trip to the fiend and learning about the rich culture attached to the drink made it all a very satisfying experience . All of us left with smiles and grand tales to tell. Exceptional.

Mezcal Journey

This was the best tour we took in Oaxaca. We were driven out of the city to a beautiful agave plantation where our guide explained about the various kinds of agave. Then we went to a mezcal distillery that make artisanal mezcal and we tasted several types of mezcal. The tour ended with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Our guide and driver were very friendly and knowledgeable.
