Overview

Crystal River is home to beautiful fresh water springs, a large variety of wildlife, and or course our most famous residents - West Indian Manatees. During the Summer months, the Bay holds approximately 75 to 80 resident manatees. Each winter between 700 and 1000 manatees migrate here seeking out our three first magnitude spring systems, each with a constant temperature of 72° to 74° F (23° C). Even in the warm summer months, Crystal River has a local population of 70-100 manatees that remain here year round. Due to efforts by many local, state and federal entities, our manatee population is thriving. We feel that an in-water swim experience is an important part of this education and conservation effort. Our team of highly trained in-water guides ensure your experience with this cherished and threatened species is handled with the utmost care and respect by encouraging passive observation. With only 6 passengers per boat you are guaranteed a special small group interaction.

Meeting point is at Salty Siren Tours, 439 NE 1st Terrace, Crystal River, FL 34429 (Located in the Crystal Terrace Plaza (behind Hardee's on US Highway 19). PLEASE SHOW AT YOUR DESIGNATED TOUR TIME. There is no need to arrive any earlier than your scheduled trip time.

Itinerary

Crystal River is the manatee capital of the world, and we are fortunate enough to be the only place where you can have the unique experience of swimming with these gentle giants in their own natural habitat! Once you arrive at Salty Siren Tours the adventure begins! After checking in, you will be fitted with one of our high quality wetsuits. (All required gear is included in the cost of your charter.) From there, you'll meet your in-water guide and photographer who will discuss your upcoming manatee interaction and answer any questions you may have. After we explain passive observation and how to properly interact in the water with our precious manatees, we will transport you to our departure location in our comfortable 15 passenger van. From there you will board your immaculately clean tour vessel for the experience of a lifetime! During your trip your guide will escort you to passively observe and these majestic mammals. We also take underwater photos of your trip (which can be purchased for an additional fee) so you can share the manatee love! CANCELLATION POLICY: 50% Refund if cancelled within 7 days of travel, non-refundable if cancelled within 72 hours of travel.

Hundreds of Manatees

The trip was amazing! So many manatees. Megan and Ed found hundreds and taught us how to feel comfortable to safely view them. I was nervous but Megan help me feel comfortable.

We had an Amazing day with Captain Ed and our guide Megan. This was my second time swimming with the manatees but my first time with Saltysirentours.com. The experience that Megan provided us with really made it everything. Megan made sure we were in all the right places and helped us to experience everything. You can really tell that both Captain Ed and Guide Megan care about what they do and their customers and the photos that they took are amazing and we will be able to revisit this amazing day often. I hope to be able to do this again soon. Thank you so much for everything.

We went out to see some manatees with salty siren and had the best time! Everything was taken care of and ready when we arrived. We got our wet suits in our instructions on proper manatee interaction and observation and headed out. After a short bolt ride we were all able to get into the water and see up close and personal several of these amazing creatures! The entire day was magical and the people are amazing! Definitely a trip you should take! And do not forget to add the photos! <3

Our trip was absolutely fantastic. We live within a couple of hours, but we had a friend down from Indiana and wanted her to experience the manatees. As we got started out, it was looking like we might not see very many. The water had gotten warmer and honestly, we were kind of bummed. But then out of nowhere, our captain and Megan found us a little pile of manatees all snuggled up close to a spring and we just floated there for a couple of hours. It was the most amazing thing just floating there and watching these manatees walking around the bottom. We watched a baby nurse off of its mama. And we were front center when a big old guy decided he needed to sneeze! It sounded like an earthquake. And what is so cool is Megan got it totally on video. And in the video you can hear her giggle cause she was so excited to have gotten it. Just as it was the last time we went out with salty siren. It was an excellent trip. The people are super friendly and made sure that we were taken care of and had a wonderful time and a great experience. So grateful to these amazing fun, loving people

Amazing experience with our guide Tyler and Captain Ed! We can’t wait to do it again and we wouldn’t change a thing! We swam with many curious and adorable manatees. The weather was cold, so the heated pontoon was great! Photos and videos were awesome!
