The name is derived from the fact that it is very long and from above it seems to divide that part of the city.
10 minutes
Piazza del Plebiscito
It is named after the plebiscite taken on October 2, 1860 that brought Naples into the unified Kingdom of Italy under the House of Savoy. It is located very closely to the gulf of Naples, and bounded on the east by the Royal Palace and on the west by the church of San Francesco di Paola with colonnades extending to both sides. Other surrounding buildings include the Palazzo Salerno and, its mirror, the Prefecture Palace (on the left arm of the church).

Pompeii (/pɒmˈpeɪi/) was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Many of the inhabitants were also buried before they could escape.

LOVED THIS TOUR!!!
Published on May, 2024
We met Piero at our starting point (not staying in the Aurelian walls we had to go to him). Even though he didn't speak English and my Italian is limited, we did quite well. He was very handy with his translation app. (By the end of the trip, he and my son - no Italian speaking - were laughing it up.)
Piero kept asking if we needed the rest stops and stopped when we did. He didn't rush us out either.
We started in Pompeii with Hector as our guide. His passion and knowledge (at 94!!!!) was infectious. He truly knew and loved his job. You couldn't help but get excited being in his group. (And the patience he had for those who arrived late and didn't pay attention was very professional.) Seeing Vesuvius was amazing as well. The way the clouds formed that day made it look very active!!
Naples was important as that's where our grandparents were born and we wanted to go there. We had plenty of time to take in the sites, walk the streets, eat real Napoli pizza and buy some fantastic sfogliatelle which became breakfast for a few days!!
The long drive back was very comfortable (seems we had Mercedes vans the entire trip) and he even took us back to our "home" across town.
I HIGHLY recommend this tour!!!
Wonderful tour highly recommend, you have to see Pompeii

Mount Vesuvius, need I say more

I think this company contracts out the jobs to available transport teams. Our guide didn’t know the particulars of the package we bought so I had to show the description. It had to do with lunch more so than anything else. Our first stop was Pompeii where we joined a guided tour with a different company. It lasted about 2-hours, plenty of walking up and down inclines and mostly on rocks. There’s very little shelter from the sun, so be prepared for the weather. The site is huge, once the guided tour is over visitors can stay as long as like to explore other areas, but our group had to meet back up with our initial guide to head to Naples. Once in Naples we had lunch by the water. It was a rainy day so we didn’t do much walking in Naples and I’m pretty sure we strayed a bit from the normal sight seeing there, which was fine since we saw from the van. We did go to a very old cafe/bakery and a gallery. It was a long day because of the drive but worth it to see the sights and have a taste of Napoli.
A negative to this tour is that you cannot hear the guide very well if sitting to the rear of the minivan.

This tour was truly a highlight of our trip to Rome! I booked this for my elderly mother and I, and our host Juliano, and driver Stephano did not disappoint! We were a small group of four, and they picked us up right at our hotel and our tour was in a Mercedes Van - nice! They asked often about the temperature level in the van, the music, always checking to be sure we were traveling in comfort. When we arrived at Pompeii, they directed us to rest rooms prior to our tour and paired us up with an extremely knowledgeable and delightfully humerous guide named Hector. After that, we visited the Medici Winery for a tour and delicious three course lunch and wine tasting. Then, it was off to Napoli and a walking tour of the city highlights with Julano. WHAT A DAY! I can honestly say that I cannot wait to return because of this tour and booking it was one of the best decisions we made! Do yourself a favor and book this tour - and ask for Juliano and Stepheno. Thanks for an unforgettable experience guys! :
