Itinerary

  • Chapultepec Castle

With an area of 647 hectares, Chapultepec Forest is one of the largest oases in Mexico City. The entrance to the forest shows us the Monument to Children Heroes, face the challenge of climbing the small hill crowned by Chapultepec Castle, which was an imperial palace and presidential residence.

    1 hour

  • Museo Nacional de Antropologia

This world-class museum stands in an extension of the Bosque de Chapultepec and is a highlight of visiting CDMX. Its long, rectangular courtyard is surrounded on three sides by two-level display halls. The 12 ground-floor salas (halls) are dedicated to pre-Hispanic Mexico, while upper-level salas show how Mexico’s indigenous descendants live today, with the contemporary cultures located directly above their ancestral civilizations. The vast museum offers more than most people can absorb in a single visit.

    2 hours

  • El Angel de la Independencia (Pass By)

Lovingly called El Ángel, the independence monument on Reforma Avenue in Mexico City is an unmistakeable symbol of Mexico’s capital. Golden and glorious, the winged statue of victory hovers above the traffic, chaos, protests, and tourists that pass beneath her feet each day.

  • Alameda (Pass By)

The Alameda Central is the grand city park of Mexico City. Easily one of the oldest city parks in the Americas, the Alameda has been a symbol of the city, through good times and bad, for more than 400 years.

  • Palacio de Bellas Artes (Pass By)

The Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts) is a prominent cultural center in Mexico City. It has hosted some of the most notable events in music, dance, theatre, opera and literature and has held important exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography. Consequently, the Palacio de Bellas Artes has been called the "Cathedral of Art in Mexico".

  • Museo del Templo Mayor

Built from an islet in the center of the lake, Mexico City grew with a network of canals and artificial islands, and the Templo Mayor took shape. The Spaniards built on it the Metropolitan Cathedral and the memory of the old and imposing pre-Hispanic temple was lost for centuries.

    30 minutes

  • Murales de Diego Rivera en la Secretaria de Educacion Publica

Inside this grandiose colonial palace you'll see Diego Rivera murals (painted between 1929 and 1951) that depict Mexican civilization from the arrival of Quetzalcóatl (the Aztec plumed serpent god) to the post-revolutionary period. The nine murals covering the north and east walls of the 1st level above the patio chronicle indigenous life before the Spanish conquest.

    30 minutes

  • Catedral Metropolitana de la Ciudad de Mexico

The Metropolitan Cathedral is without a doubt one of the most important buildings in Mexico City’s historical center. Beyond its religious significance, it contains a summary of five centuries worth of Mexican art and architecture. Built on the remains of an Aztec temple in what was the center of the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan, the colonizing Spaniards built the most grandiose church in all of the Americas. Its imposing size, fascinating history and beautiful art and architecture make this one of the most outstanding buildings in the country.

Highly recommended!

Published on Sep, 2024

This tour was a lot of fun. My friend and I had been to a lot of the places before, but the guide still gave us new information during his explanation of the history behind the buildings and the city. He took pictures for us and gave us plenty of time to look around. He was thoughtful of the order we visited things so we avoided the rush of school children coming, so we never had large crowds anywhere we went. At the end of the day, he allowed us to stop for an unscheduled ritual going on in our path back to the car. It w as perfect because my friend and I flew home the next day. That ritual is one of the most memorable experiences I have from my trip. I highly recommend this tour.

Flexible, knowledgeable and friendly!

Jorge did a wonderful job taking two disabled ladies around Mexico City. He and our driver, Gabriel, managed to fit both of us and rollator walkers into their vehicle and tailored the experience to our mobility and energy levels. I would highly recommend this tour for the interesting tidbits of knowledge, the ease of getting around, and the flexibility. If you’re looking for a private tour of this beautiful city look no further!

High quality Mexico City tour experience!

Published on Nov, 2023

Wow! I highly recommend Aztec Guides for a high quality experience. This tour was as complete an experience as you can get in 6 hours!! Our guide Jacqueline was extraordinary and gave us so much information on Chapultepec Castle history, the artists and artwork including the statues and paintings. Then, we walked over to the Anthropology Museum where we explored the Mexica exhibit and gardens. The museum is so large, we will have to return to explore the rest another time. Our driver Gabriel, then took us downtown where we got out and walked throughout Centro, looking at so many beautiful buildings and architectural examples. Every city should have a Postal building like the one in Mexico City! Jacqueline was great at describing the history of the buildings in Centro. We then walked to the Cathedral and were in awe at how massive it is and opulent the interior with beautiful statues, wood carvings, paintings, and the pipe organ. After that, we walked to the excavation site that is occurring right behind the Cathedral, while Jaqueline explained how it was discovered. We then walked back through Centro to meet our driver Gabriel by the Bellas Artes building. Gabriel was a real champ driving through downtown and back to the Condesa. I would say this tour was worth every dollar, not only for the quality but for the flexibility in deciding what was most important for us to see. Can't wait to return to Mexico City to do more tours with them.
