Begin with an exploration of the highlights of the Prado’s massive collection, carefully selected so you don’t have to worry about navigating the 7,000+ pieces on your own. Then, you’re off to Botín, the oldest restaurant in the world. Head behind the scenes for an exclusive tour before enjoying a three-course meal, including their signature dish.

Your guide will show you the cave beneath the restaurant, which was part of a tunnel system that once spread underneath Madrid, and take you behind the scenes of the historic kitchen where 300-year-old ovens make time-perfected recipes. Finally, sit down for a three-course meal and feast on specialties such as chicken and ham croquettes and Botín’s signature roast suckling pig.

Arantxa was an excellent tour guide through the Prado and Restaurant Botin. Her discussion of the paintings by Goya, El Greco and Velasquez were easy to understand and she brought the people and places and painters to life for us!

Perfect half day in Madrid

Cassie was probably the best guide I have ever had for a European tour experience of any type in any country. She was funny, engaging, and had an incredible depth of knowledge about the paintings we saw in El Prado. She even was able to make it interesting for a non-artistically inclined teenager, which is quite the challenge. Lunch at El Botín was delicious and quite filling. Can’t recommend this experience enough for a half day in Madrid.

Our guide Arantxa was amazing! So knowledgeable and funny! She gave us so information and made it interesting as well. She knew so much about the history of the Prado and we got a private tour of the famed Botin restaurant before a wonderful lunch.
