Overview

Madrid’s history comes to life through food and fascinating stories on this one-of-a-kind tapas crawl. In between stops at some of the city’s oldest tapas bars, you’ll embark on a journey through hundreds of years of history past legendary monuments, unassuming hidden corners, and everything in between. You’ll also gain firsthand knowledge of how to go out for tapas just like the locals do in Madrid!

Meeting points

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your tour, your guide will be waiting for you holding a red Devour Tours tote bag or sign. This tour meets at Calle de la Misericordia, 2 in Plaza de las Descalzas by the ornate entryway.

Your evening begins at a historic tavern in the heart of Madrid, where you’ll enjoy your first tapas of the evening along with vermouth—Spain’s favorite aperitif. Get a crash course in the art of tapeo as your guide shares some of the secrets of going out for tapas here in Madrid.

A great taste of Madrid and Spanish tapas

Our guide David brought fantastic knowledge and energy to the tour. A perfect amount of food and drink that left us satisfied, the quality was top (one restaurant had a huge queue we could just breeze past, every stop was very good). The history element was great for a novice on Spanish history, and David was very knowledgeable about the regional cuisines and wines and historic origins of this which made the tour engaging and very fun.

Absolutely incredible food tour. Arantxa was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable not just about Spanish food but also Spanish history. She was funny, interesting, and taught us all so much about Spanish gastronomy, culture, geography, and history. You get a good amount of food and drink on this trip, and the price is absolutely worth it. Don’t miss out on an incredible experience.

Arantxa is the funniest guide with deep knowledge of Madrid's food scene! We didn't have to queue in any of the tapas bars and were treated like VIP! She was able to weave in history and arts bits in a dynamic and fun way. We will hire her any time again!

We had such a great time on this tour. Flo was so informative and her love of Madrid was infectious. She brought us to lovely restaurants full of flavor and atmosphere. I'd highly recommend a Devour Tour whenever possible to learn the best ways to spot a hidden gem when in a new city!
