Overview

Although small in size, Portugal has a rich and varied gastronomy, based on the Mediterranean diet but with several influences. In this Cooking Class you will learn to prepare traditional Portuguese dishes based upon typical recipes. Menus are always seasonal and incorporate local products wherever possible.You will prepare and enjoy a four course meal: appetizer, soup, main course and dessert. After the class you can enjoy a well deserved meal with the dishes you prepared, paired with different Portuguese wines. Take home the memories of the city and prepare a Typically Portuguese Meal for your friends and family. - Hands-on cooking class by a local Chef instructor. - Wines from demarcated regions and beverages included. - Class is made up of 8 participants maximum - Family friendly.

Itinerary

Cook in Ribeira developed the cooking classes menu based on the traditional Portuguese culinary. During the entire year, the menus of our Hands-on classes are constantly adapted to include the freshest and seasonal ingredients. The Chef instructor will teach you how to prepare the menu, sharing tricks and tips. Seated around our large table, enjoy the meal you have prepared with your class companions. Wines from the demarcated regions of Portugal will delight your senses. Take with you the very best of what Portugal has to offer, and impress your family and friends, with your Chef skills.

Codfish

There are 1001 ways to cook the Portuguese cured codfish. The challenge is to cook it in a way that everyone can enjoy it as we Portuguese do.

STARTER

Mussels / Clams

Mussels or clams are one of our favorite starters. The green wine pairs very well with the super tasty sauce soaked in the bread.

DESSERT

Almond and other pies/Tart

The convent sweets and almonds brighten our end of the meal. The challenge is to cook an almond tart and then taste it with a red port wine.

Pilgrims in Portugal

What an amazing time with Vitor/Jorge!!! We loved their hospitality and conversation!! The food we cooked was amazing!! Very fun learning about Portugal and its traditions and food. We left completely FULL!! Maybe we shouldn’t have eaten so much during the day!! Wish we could do this every night we are in Porto!

What can we say. Vitor and Jorge made this the most fun, flavorful, and fantastic cooking experience our group of twenty could have hoped for. The fiery shrimp, creamy soup, codfish a brás and almond tarte were supreme, but our host were the star of show!

We attended the Portuguese cooking class with Chef Vitor Candido on May 23rd. The evening was lots of fun and the food was delicious. The menu was traditional Portuguese cuisine. Vitor was very patient with us and certainly made everything look so easy. What a great way to have a memorable evening!
