What real time travel looks like!

Never realized that Pompeii was such a Mecca for phallic symbols. Go figure! The tour was fascinating and helped limit the distance my 94 year old mom had to walk to still take it all in. Our guide was great!!

Our guide was not only knowledgeable, but also brought everything to life. She kept us engaged, and to top it all made sure that we had routes where there was shade on the hot day

Upon arrival at the ticket desk, we upgraded to a two hour guided tour for 10 euros per person. I highly recommend doing that. Our guide, Heraldo, was extremely knowledgeable and gave us the highlights of Pompeii.

YOU MUST DO POMPEI!

Pompei is an unbelievable place - a must to visit. We went by train and the pick up for our tickets and audio guide was right above the station at Pompei and very quick. Be aware you’ll need to leave either a form of id or credit card to act as deposit for the audio equipment - a little unnerving but this is also the system at the main ticketing office at the site anyway. Make sure you wear good walking shoes or boots, the cobbled roads are nothing like you’d imagine. We allowed 4 hours from train time to train time perhaps 5 hours is needed for a thorough visit. A big site, loads of visitors and little shade and facilities so take food and drink with you. They gave us a good map and audio guide (basically a phone) which shows you where you are, so easy to navigate the large site.

Audio tour was great. Very insightful and good value for the money. Lots of open space and hot so bring water and a sun hat.
