Tour: Three Wineries in Three Countries Day Tour
Duration: 9 hours
Countries Visited: Serbia, Montenegro, and Croatia
An Unforgettable Journey
This nine-hour wine tour through three countries exceeded every expectation. What made this experience truly exceptional was our tour guide, Miho, who brought both extensive regional knowledge and a personal connection that resonated deeply with us as fellow military veterans. His background as a Croatian army veteran, combined with our service in the United States Marine Corps, created an immediate bond that enhanced the entire experience.
The Wineries
Our journey took us to three distinct locations, each offering its own unique character:
Serbia: We visited a historic monastery, providing fascinating insight into the region's religious and cultural heritage
Montenegro: Savina Winery offered beautiful scenery and excellent wines
Croatia: Dubrovnik Cellars in Gruda, south of Dubrovnik, was the absolute highlight
Wine Highlights
The wine selection was outstanding, particularly the Cabernet Francs that we absolutely loved. We also discovered several exceptional Malvasia Biancas that were perfectly suited to our palates. The variety and quality of wines across all three countries showcased the region's diverse winemaking traditions.
The Most Memorable Moment
The crown jewel of the tour was our time at the Croatian winery, where we had the privilege of sitting with the actual winemaker. This intimate experience, combined with sampling olive oil produced right on the property, created an authentic connection to the land and craft that you simply can't get from typical tourist experiences.
Logistics and Comfort
The tour's pacing was perfectly managed - never more than an hour between locations, allowing us to truly enjoy each stop without feeling rushed. Transportation was comfortable in an air-conditioned van, making the journey between countries pleasant and relaxing.
Final Thoughts
This tour is an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Dubrovnik. The combination of excellent wines, rich history, comfortable transportation, and especially Miho's exceptional guidance makes this experience unforgettable.
I would recommend this tour to absolutely anyone, particularly if you can arrange for Miho as your guide. This is tourism at its finest.
