Overview

Miyajima has been venerated as a sacred island since remote antiquity. Home to Itsukushima Shrine, which is registered as a World Heritage site, and recognized as one of Japan’s trinity of “three famous sights,” Miyajima is a magnet for tourists that has spellbound countless visitors. In May 2023, when world leaders gathered in Hiroshima for the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the leaders and their spouses paid a visit to Miyajima. On this tour, you’ll enjoy the same experiences as these visitors and receive premium content that can only be experienced here. Guided by a local interpreter, you’ll stroll around the island, visit Itsukushima Shrine, have lunch at Akushu Restaurant, visit the facilities related to the Summit at Iwaso, and enjoy a tour of the Miyajima History and Folklore Museum.

What To Expect

1. Miyajima Sambashimae Park Rendezvous with guide in front of Miyajima Ferry Terminal After rendezvous, participants will walk to Itsukushima Shrine. 20 minutes

2. At Akushu Restaurant, our lunch venue, enjoy a luncheon of foods with special connections to the Summit and Hiroshima, prepared specially for our tour. 1 hour 30 minutes

3. Iwaso, a long-standing Japanese inn on Miyajima, was the venue for a working dinner during the G7 Hiroshima Summit. The tour will include a visit to the facilities of Iwaso, which is connected with the G7 Hiroshima Summit, and a talk by a staff member about episodes from that time. Afterwards, the tea ceremony experience will take place at a special place ’’Iwaso’’ 1 hour 40 minutes

4. Itsukushima Shrine You will visit Itsukushima Shrine, and have a general worship session and a tour of the facility. 50 minutes

5. Miyajima History Folk Museum At Miyajima History and Folklore Museum, you can learn about the history and culture of Miyajima. 40 minutes

6. Miyajima Sambashimae Park Say goodbye to your guide, and disband at the site. 30 minutes
