Overview

You might have the chance to meet Master Taku himself in the 11 o'clock class. Enjoy the art of recreating broken pottery into your one and only masterpiece. Take home with you the story you made in Japan. Kintsugi is a delicate technique; you are NOT allowed to bring any personal ceramic pieces to this course. You will use the plates prepared for beginners by the studio. In 2024, Master Taku is awarded with the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon, the honorable commendation given to individuals who have made significant achievements in the fields of science, art, invention, improvement, and creation this year. Not only his talents as an artist, but also the fact that he dedicates a portion of profit to the charity was the big reason for winning this award. Thus, joining and enjoying his workshop, you will paying back to the society!

Itinerary

You might have the chance to meet Master TAKU himself in the 11 o'clock class! Learn Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, during this 60-minute lesson. Use this technique to repair pottery while delving into this beautiful Japanese traditional craft. Get a unique perspective of the culture of Japan and learn the Japanese view of objects: that objects are meant to be broken and repaired, not thrown out. Bring home a unique souvenir when the 1-hour lesson is over. Kintsugi is a delicate technique; you are NOT allowed to bring any personal ceramic pieces to this course. You will use the plates prepared for beginners by the studio. Kintsugi is done with chemical resin and ornamental gold powder. The process is the same as traditional Kintsugi material is not natural No lacquer rash. You can experience it safely in a short time Cannot be used for eating and drinking

It’s almost our last days of our Japan trip and I am so glad to have this experience to close the journey! My husband loves to fix broken ceramic and I am a watercolor artist myself that once broke my own ceramic palette. Will definitely use this technique to fix that piece. Mr. Taku gives a very clear instruction and very patient! Gave us feedback on how we can improve as well. I enjoy this relaxing experience so much def recommend to have this traditional kintsugi experience when you visit Japan! :)
