Overview

In principle, reservations are for two persons or more. On this tour, you cycle around the Ikeda Reservoir formed in the middle of the Yoshino River. The town of Ikeda, known as “the navel of Shikoku” has always prospered as a center of trade. After cycling through the retro shopping street, you come to a row of old merchant houses with ornamental ‘udatsu’ firewalls. A slight rise brings you to the Yoshino River, which has the largest flow of Japan’s rivers. The deep reservoir and the man-made structures create a beautiful contrast. This tour takes you through a historic town, along the magnificent Yoshino River, with a thrilling wire suspension bridge and a pretty submersible bridge. The route takes you along the Median Tectonic Line, one of the world’s biggest faults. If the surface of the water is calm, the reservoir becomes a huge mirror.

1. Ikeda Udatsu Area (Ikedacho) 日本酒やタバコなど、阿波池田の伝統的な産業を知ることのできる、雰囲気のある町並み。そこから少し足を伸ばすと、美しい吉野川の流れを眺めながら、ゆっくりと自然を体感できるコースを走ることができる。 15 minutes

2. Awa Ikeda Ekimaedori Shopping Street A retro shopping street with the atmosphere of the 1970s.

3. Ikeda Tabacco Museum You can also experience old-fashioned Xeller tobacco. 15 minutes
