We did this tour with Alejandro and we were accompanied by Jimmy B. They both felt like old friends we hadn't seen in a while. Easy to talk to and full of information about Vallarta and life in this beautiful spot. After meeting steps from the bus stop in a very central location, we hopped on the local bus to travel down the gorgeous coast road past the botanical gardens and then inland to the tiny (3211 people according to the sign!) non-touristy agricultural town of el Tuito. An hour or so on the comfortable bus flew by. As we were the only people on the tour today, Alejandro was easily able to cater to our interests and walking speed. There was nothing terribly strenuous even in the heat and unseasonable humidity and we are in our late '60s. We explored architecture, development, demographic changes, building materials, restaurants, shops, and the surrounding rural neighbourhoods. There were many restaurants to choose from for lunch and we had a delicious meal at one in a building that had been in the town square since the mid-1700s (Patio de Mario). After lunch we continued our walk and went to a co-op, non-profit art gallery down a dusty back lane. It was full of local art from jewellery to paintings to textiles to locally made alcohol. No pressure in any way to buy at the gallery or anywhere else in town. Just lovely people who are kind and friendly. We fell in love with this little spot and will return to spend a night or two on our next trip to Puerto Vallarta. We learned so much from Alejandro and Jimmy about travelling comfortably and safely in Mexico. We won't hesitate to use this company again and highly recommend them for both your on- and off-the beaten track Mexican adventures.
