What To Expect

1. After you meet your private host, we start tasting an "ouriço" (regional pastry delicacy)and understand the connection between convents, nuns and Portuguese pastry. 15 minutes

2. Mercado Municipal da Ericeira Find out why traditional portuguese cuisine is so rich and what other civilizations that have passed through this territory have added to the Portuguese gastronomy, as we visit the Ericeira Fresh Market. Enjoy the atmosphere of this market, where farmers and fishermen sell their freshest goods 15 minutes

3. Praca do Jogo da Bola In a small, local and family restaurant we will taste delicacies such as 'pastel de bacalhau' (cod croquettes) and understand why Portugal is one of the biggest consumers of this fish and something strange; There is no cod on the Portuguese coast! 30 minutes

4. Centro de Interpretacao da Reserva Mundial de Surf e Posto de Turismo At this surf interpretive centre we will understand how this sport and its worldwide distinction have been changing the socio-cultural and economic dynamics of Ericeira while living an immersive experience. 30 minutes

5. Parque das Furnas We will taste the best seafood accompanied by a fresh, light and refreshing, very popular with seafood or grilled fish: the green wine. And then we will visit the old shellfish and sea urchin farms, play a little and enjoy the views of this beautiful village where the sea is bluer. 30 minutes

6. Praia dos Pescadores At the fishermen's beach we will meet these "sea wolves"and their fishing "artifacts". We'll see them coming home after a hard/long fishing day or preparing for tomorrow.

7. In this tavern we will enjoy a sandwich that is on the list of the best in the world and toast with a very cold local beer. 30 minutes

Portugal's Hidden Gem

The most memorable part of the tour for me was Angelo's apparent love of the city of Ericeira. He was very knowledgeable of its history and how fishing played a huge part in that history. His passion for its future was equally displayed. He was an excellent guide. I recommend this tour for any one who is looking for that hidden gem in Portugal. The price was great. Bring comfortable walking shoes and bottled water. This is an excellent city and take the tour with Angelo.
