It takes less than 10 minutes to travel from Interlaken up to the Harder Kulm, Interlaken’s home mountain. Here, at 1322 m above sea level, you enjoy fabulous views of the Jungfrau Region with the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau as well as Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.

The trip is unguided, you may just board the funicular. You find the location/GPS of the departure station on Google and on the Jungfrau Railways website. The great journey starts not far from Interlaken Ost station and leads through a charming forest and through a wildlife park. If Interlaken had a king, he would reside on the Harder Kulm. From the viewing platform at 1,322 metres above sea level, you will graciously look down upon Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, or admire the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Visit the “Two-Lakes-Bridge” and an airy viewing platform with a glass area in its floor. Restaurant can't be missed as looks like a small castle and is open also during evening time. In order to visit it, however, you don't need to be a king – just take a seat in the funicular and ascend Interlaken's own mountain!

Amazing views! Highly recommend taking the cable car if you’re around the area. There’s a stunning view of Interlaken once you get to the top. Worth the experience!

Even though it was a cloudy day which obstructed the view. The restaurant was fun and cable car efficient. Would not suggest if it is too cloudy of day though.

Amazing views from the top

You take a funicular up to the top and there you can enjoy the views over the lakes from the viewing platform which are very breathtaking. There is also a hiking loop you can do and experience different views. There is also a restaurant there where we had some lunch and it was also good. The only issue is that it takes quite a long time to queue for the funicular, especially on the way down. The cost of the ticket is included in the Berneroberland pass, which we had and you didn't need to queue for buying the tickets.

Steep funicular leading to fantastic views

If you're going to take a pricey funicular in Switzerland this one is worth considering. We lucked out with nice clear views of the area and the station at the top has a nice restaurant and panoramic views of the valley below with two very nice lakes. We spent a couple of hours in the area taking photos and eating at the restaurant. We would recommend dressing for the weather and bringing a good pair of shoes for walking around at the top. We would also recommend checking the weather reports to make sure you get clear views at the top. We don't think it would be worth it without the view because it is 19 CHF each way! The views in every direction are brilliant and there are many vantage points to get unique views of the area including a few spots to get panorama views. Some of the tourists up here were a bit pushy but it didn't take away from our experience.

Stunning views of the mountains and more

Spectacular view of the mountains and the lake from the top. There is usually a long queue for the funicular. We nearly had to wait for an hour for our turn. All the waiting is certainly worth it when you see the vista from atop. There are a few wood carvings of animals and some play things for the children as well. The best time to get there would be before sunset as the view is magnificent. Swiss travel pass is always convenient.
