Overview

Truly unique guided kayaking tour on the beautiful Lake Brienz. Fit for explorers of all skill levels, this outing features the towering cliffs, forested hillsides, and calm waters that make Interlaken one of the most picturesque settings around. The session lasts 3 hours of which we spent around 2 hours on the water. What’s included: experienced sea kayak coach, small group sizes (from 2-6), top quality sea kayaks and paddles, as well as a digital photo package.

Meeting points

By Public Transport: • Regular trains to Interlaken Ost train station • Bus 103 from Interlaken Ost to Bönigen See (direction Iseltwald) o Runs at :05 & :35 throughout the day taking 5 - 10mins o Check your times at http://www.sbb.ch/fahrplan.html o Short walk (3mins) from the Busstop to the Strandbad (see map above)  By Car: • Take the A8 to Interlaken exit at Bönigen, turn left on to Hauptstrasse. At the roundabout take the first exit on to Interlakenstrasse. Turn right after the bridge in to Lütschinenstrasse. You will find a parking area at the end of the road. • Take the A8 towards Brienz, exit at the A26 to Interlaken Ost / Bönigen and follow the signs towards Bönigen. Continue on the Untere Bönigenstrasse till the bridge, then turn left in to Lütschinenstrasse. You will find a parking area at the end of the road. On foot: • From the trainstation Interlaken Ost follow the signs to the boats. Turn right and follow the trail to Bönigen. After the camping area turn right and follow the road to the strandbad (around 35mins).

Itinerary

Our half day tours run regularly throughout the summer months and are suitable for all abilities. Our tours start in Bönigen on Lake Brienz where we travel across the River Lütschine, heading towards the north shore, exploring beautiful cliffs, the 12th century Ringgenberg castle and hidden beaches along the way. Your guide will offer instruction on how to develop your paddling skills and will also capture your experience with lots of photos to show to your friends and family back home. Evening Tours: The evening is a special time of the day where the lake calms down again and the sun starts to set. There's always a special calming atmosphere in the evening, perfect for photos and a relaxing way to end the day. The evening tour follows the same itinerary as the half day tour above. The session lasts 3 hours, of which we spend around 2 hours on the water. Our summer tours run from May until October. When the water temperature gets colder we start our winter tours (with drysuits) in October/November. If the dates or times you require are not available, please get in touch and we can see if they would be possible.

You do not need previous kayaking experience, but you must be able to handle a kayak on your own.
If you have back, neck, lower back, joint or muscular problems, you should carefully consider whether or not to participate.
You should bring swimsuit, change of clothes, waterproof footwear, sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen, a bottle of water, and snacks.

Hands-down the BEST kayaking experience, ever!

If you find yourself in Interlaken, do not miss out on the opportunity to kayak on beautiful Lake Brienz with Hightide Kayaking School! The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the guide paled only to the views, which were spectacular. I'm struggling to come up with the words to describe the beauty of the water's color, but it was unlike anything I had ever seen before. 10000/10 Definitely recommend this slice of heaven. They provided us with wet suits (since it was unseasonably cold), and individual kayaks, with very comfortable seats. Our guide graciously took photos of us with her GoPro and emailed them to us afterwards. She even shared some delicious smiley face cookies with us out on the water. I'm hard to please, and this company nailed it!

Highlight of our time in Interlaken!

We had the most fantastic time on this kayak tour!! It was the highlight of our time in Interlaken. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and my husband and I (who had little kayaking experience before) felt like pros afterwards. Joelle, our guide, was so personable and had a great sense of humor! She also took some incredible photos of us on her GoPro throughout the tour. This was an unforgettable way to experience the stunning nature of this town! 10/10 would recommend this to anyone who is visiting!!

Even with it being overcast the views were still amazing. Our guide was patient and very personable, didn't feel rushed at all. Well worth your time!
