Overview

Emilia Foodie Experience is an extraordinary journey through a landscape of rivers, plains and hills and the jewels of the Italian gastronomic tradition! We will discover the secrets of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma, their ancient origins and unparalleled balance of knowledge, man’s passion and nature’s bounty. We will see the cheese production process in full swing and we will visit all the rooms of the cheese dairy: the production room, the shaping room, the salting room and the amazing warehouse! The dairy experience will end with a tasting of delicious Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. We will reach an authentic Prosciutto di Parma Plant, crossing the Parma Hills region. During the visit to the plant we will be able to observe the production process of this delicacy and learn about its important history and all the standards which must be complied with, to fully understand the the origins of the unique character of Parma ham: the sweetness!

We will visit an authentic Parmigiano Reggiano cheese dairy during the production procees and the visit will be followed by a declicious tasting of different ageings of cheese.

After the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese dairy experience, we will head to a plant situated on the Parma hills, where the famous Prosciutto di Parma is produced, for the visit to the Prosciutto facility followed by tasting of Prosciutto and other traditional cured meats.

Once in a Lifetime Tour!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Emilia-Romagna. Michelle picked us up from our hotel in Parma and our first stop was a small, independent producer of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. We got to see so many steps of the cheese making process up close! At first I had wondered why we needed to make such an early start to the day, but Michelle timing it perfectly so that we could see everything (from the boiling of the milk and separating the curds, to forming the wheels). We even got to help “turn” the curds to release them from the bottom of the copper vat. Next we got to taste 12, 24, 30, and 36 month Parmigiano Reggiano. Michelle is level 2 certified taster and thoughtfully walked us through the tastings, pointing out the nuances of each cheese’s aromas, textures, and flavors. So fun! Our second stop was a “salumifico” in Langhirano. I loved that this was another small family run business, this one woman owned and operated. Michelle was so knowledgeable about the whole process of making Prosciutto di Parma and walked us through the facility. So cool to see — although I wouldn’t recommend for my vegetarian friends. :) We ended with another great tasting — this time with a little glass of local wine, too. I truly cannot recommend Artemilia more highly. This truly felt like a once in a lifetime experience. Such a fun and special day.

This is a definite tour to take. We absolutely loved our Guide, Cecelia! She was such a pleasure to be with. Our driver, Guido, was fun and comical.

A great tour with a great tour guide!!

Today was such a great day! We got to tour Villa Aiola dairy farm as well as Conti Prosciutto di Parma plant. We got to watch them make the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and explore the dairy farm. We got to meet the dairy cows and even welcome some new baby twins to the farm!! We got to sample fresh ricotta cheese and the different aged cheeses!! We also got to see the different aging rooms for the prosciutto hams and also sample some different aged varieties!! Michelle was such an amazing guide - so full of knowledge and helpful in helping us understand the processes!! We highly recommend using this group for any tour they offer!! We hope to come back again! A day we will never forget!!

Fantastic tours of a local farm that produces Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and then a local producer of Prosciutto di Parma. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about her region's products and culture. Highly recommended!

The absolute best Parma food tour

Perfect tour, we tasted all of the classic foods that we have been excited for. From the homemade pasta dishes to the vertical tasting of cheese from parmigiana and a very special balsamic vinegar from Modena everything was perfect. We had two bottles of amazing wine that we had never tried as well. We had special pastries as well, and Serena went out of her way to get gluten-free options for my husband that were delicious. Serena was an absolutely amazing tour guide I would give this tour five stars for sure but more if I could.
