Overview

After we pick you up from various locations around Chania we will drive through West Crete until we reach the Kissamos port. After approximately 1 hour, the boat arrives at the port of Gramvousa. On top of a steep rock on the highest point of the island, lays the Venetian castle built during the late 16th century. You will have plenty of time to explore the island and swim in its coast before we board the boat that will take us to the Balos lagoon. Fantastic azure waters fill the lagoon creating an rare amalgamation of serenity and ild natural beauty. At around 16:30 we will board the boat back to the port of Kissamos and eventually return by bus to the designated spots you were picked up from.

    Gramvousa Island with it's famous pirate history is considered a unique attraction all over Greece. While visiting it's worth visiting its amazing pirate castle or swimming around the famous cargo ship wreck which is located in the shore of the island. While visiting, make sure you also lit a candle in the historic church of St. George, located on the shore.

Great trip. It was very well organised. All schedule was clearly communicated so everybody knew what to expect. We had sufficient time in Balos and Gramvousa. It was a lot of people on the boat, but everybody could find space to seat and enjoy the views. Food and drinks are accesible on the boat and prices are not that expensive. Departure times of the boat were displayed everytime we were leaving the boat so everybody knew exactly what time it departures. There was a bridge from boat to the beaches so there was no need to swim... Overall it was great experience and as I have mentioned all schedule was displayed and communicated in the bus so there was no suprises. Driver and tour quide took great care of us so the whole journey was comfortable and with no stress at all.

Amazing day all together! Balos lagoon water was so warm, just like a bath. Gramvousa was incredible, water was turquoise blue and so clear, not forgetting the incredible history and shipwreck. Breathtaking experience.

Island excursion.

Apart from a number of pick up points, the journey to the boat was an interesting insight of the Island. Our guide Carolina was very informative. After boarding the boat (an old car ferry) which was very comfortable and offered food and drinks the entire trip, we sailed to the Pirate Island of Gramvousa. You are able to go onto the Island. It has a sandy beach with limited shade and view the old fortification there if you fancy the climb. Trainers or walking footwear needed. Balos lagoon is also nice. No shade. You need wet style footwear. In all the trip was excellent.

We are from Brazil and have seen many beaches in the world - this is the most beautiful amazing beach EVER - water is so clear - it is like swimming in liquid glass! Have to go by boat - road is terrible - big boat is great - no need to spend a lot for private - no beach bar - bring your food from the boat restaurant

Booked via Tripadvisor and all went smoothly. Price includes everything except €1 tax for Balos Lovely day . Long but worth it . The transfer coach was very comfortable and took around an hour to get to port . Boats can be quite busy . Rent a brolly if you’re sun shy . Can be very hot on islands . Both are worth seeing for landscape and view . Around a 10 hr day . Food on boat expensive so bring packed lunch and drinks.
