Anchorage

Downtown Anchorage is a great place to start your local, guided exploration. Your exploration of the largest city in Alaska begins with a custom pick-up at your hotel. We share a bit of the history of Anchorage and begin your tour.

The Ulu Factory

Historic Downtown is a must see followed by a short drive to the Alaska Railroad station Anchorage Depot where we will stop at the Ulu Factory and Ship Creek salmon stream.

Beluga Point

Beluga point is just south of Anchorage on the Turnagain Arm. This destination features incredible Alaskan vistas and wildlife viewing. Dahl Sheep are often visible on the rocky crags of the Chugach mountains and when migrating, Beluga Whales can be seen plying through the fjord.

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

After Beluga Point, we stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This is your guaranteed opportunity to see bears, elk, moose and many other Alaskan animals. Your guide will share information on all the amazing animals at the Center. We have a few favorites to share!

Byron Glacier Trail

Our final destination is the Glacier River Walk to Byron Glacier. This easy 20-25 minute walk allows you the opportunity to walk along the river water produced from the hanging Bryon Glacier and eventually walk up to view the glacier itself.

Girdwood

After experiencing multiple unique experiences of glacier viewing, walk along the river and the Wildlife Conservation Center, we stop for an optional lunch, at our favorite locally owned spot in Girdwood, Base Camp. The food is delicious and well priced ( Have we mentioned the seafood chowder!)

Turnagain Arm Drive

Turnagain Arm is considered one of the most scenic drives in the United States, Besides all the great places to experience- just the views and the drive itself are spectacular.

Guide was knowledgeable and friendly and tour was fantastic for learning about the city of Anchorage as well as seeing wildlife and beautiful landscapes. Definitely would consider this to be an essential when visiting Anchorage!

Courtney was a Fabolous tour guide. She did everything and anything to give us the best experience. We were able to drive side by side with a pod of belugas and got out at several spots to see them. She knows a ton of great spots to see some stuff that doesnt even seem real! Highly recommend this tour.

Great tour of Wildlife Conservation Center and Portage Glacier. Teresa, our guide from Welcome Anchorage Tours, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We received texts when she was in route to pick us up and when she arrived. She even followed up with us when she found something left in the van after the tour.

Going to the ice cave and getting glacier water! Seeing the wolves was also neat especially since they didn't have any at local zoo. Our tour guide Theresa was very insightful and knowledgeable being that she was born and raised in Alaska. You could tell that her passion is doing these types of tours. She had very interesting and exciting anecdotes. Was able to share personal experiences and encounters that she had. The lunch spot was also great and had amazing customer service! Overall great authentic Alaskan experience! Theresa went above and beyond showing us her Alaska!
