Itinerary

  • Beluga Point

Beluga Point is one of the scheduled stops. We will have narration about the area, its geology, unique features and history of the area. Guests will have time to take photos.

    15 minutes

  • Seward Highway

The drive from Anchorage to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center/Portage Glacier Area begins with spectacular views as you pass between the dramatic shorelines of Turnagain Arm and the jutting peaks of the Chugach Mountains. The Seward Highway is considered to be one of the most scenic highways in the US.

    2 hours

  • Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

At the 200-acre Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, jaws drop in awe-even those of longtime Alaskans who've studied grizzlies and other animals up close. AWCC's mission is to preserve Alaskaā€™s wildlife through conservation, research, education and quality animal care. The center, which opened to the public in 1993, also educates visitors about Alaska's wildlife. Coyotes peer out from behind the brush while a bald eagle swoops in on the salmon remains left by a grizzly bear. Wood Bison plod through 65 acres of tidal flat terrain, as part of a program that will one day restore the species to the Alaskan wilderness. Animals that cannot be released into the wild are given a permanent home at the center. Come be a part of these exciting programs and watch these animals display their natural, ā€œwildā€, behavior. You will have about 90 minutes here to view these animals. There is coffee and food for purchase from vendors at the Center.

    1 hour 30 minutes

  • Portage Glacier

Portage Glacier Cruise is one hour from Anchorage. This cruise will take you right up to the face of a glacier. Youā€™ll board the comfortable MV Ptarmigan, featuring an enclosed, heated cabin and open-air observation deck. The hour-long cruise is narrated by the US Forest Service, and youā€™ll navigate around bobbing icebergs and motor to within 300 feet of the towering wall of ice called Portage Glacier (one of Alaskaā€™s most popular attractions). You may have an opportunity to hear the unmistakable rumbling of a calving glacier or rolling iceberg. After the 1 hour cruise, you will have an opportunity to eat lunch at a nearby restaurant. Lunch is not included.

A fantastic tour that we would highly recommend!

Published on Sep, 2024

This tour was fantastic! Christina, our tour guide, had so much enthusiasm and energy and was able to share so much of her knowledge everywhere we went. We have done an excursion in each port while we have been away. They have all been very good but this one was the best one.

Sunshine in Anchorage

Christina was fantastic, we were blessed with the weather, the pictures we had taken of the glaciers and the wildlife were incredible. I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting anchorage

Spectacular!

Published on Sep, 2024

We only had a couple days to spend in Alaska and chose this tour hoping to see and learn a lot in a relatively short time. We were not disappointed. Our tour guide, Philip, regaled us with lots of great information while we travelled and at each stop. He answered all our many questions and was honest on the rare occasion (once) when he didnā€™t know the answer. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy each stop. Our trip was very low budget and I was a little worried I would regret spending the money on this tour but I would make the same choice again for sure.

Highly recommend

Our tour guide Christina was amazing. Very knowledgeable and upbeat. Loved all of the stops. Great tour of all of Anchorageā€™s highlights. If you donā€™t have a lot of time in Anchorage this is a perfect tour. Highly recommend. I am disappointed in some of the advertising The tour picture of the glacier is a bit deceptive. We were impressed with Portage Glacier but it wasnā€™t as majestic as shown in the picture. Also, the description stated free hotel pickup but we had to go to a meeting place.

Great day tour from Anchorage!
