Overview

This thematic half-day tour about caves and volcanoes at Terceira island, will show all the different outcomes of the volcanic origins of the islands! Starting with the climb onto Serra do Cume top, where you'll be surprised by the breathtaking beauty of one of the largest craters of the Azores; visit the Algar do Carvão, where you feel the experience of being on the inside of an empty volcano; have a small walk through the trail that leads you around the fumarolic field of Furnas do Enxofre; and explore the cave of Gruta do Natal, a set of basaltic lava tunnels; visit the natural pools of volcanic origin in Biscoitos, where you can admire its amazing bay filled with black volcanic rock.

Great Excurcion, The spots we saw where just beautifull. And the guide was really friendly and always ask us what we would like to see next. You can go for it no doubts. Just great and amasing. We never saw something like this

Spectacular and educational tour

Whilst we weren't blessed with the best weather, Chris proved an excellent tour guide, driving us around the volcanology highlights of the island and giving us loads of information. She was also full of local knowledge and told us much of the recent history of this beautiful island. Whilst the lava tube (Gruta do Natal) and the sulphur springs (Furnas do Enxofre) were amazing, the highlight was the enormous Algar do Carvao. This trip was well worth doing!

Caving tour

Really enjoyed the afternoon tour with Chris, she was prompt to pick us up from hotel and then collected 2 others from their hotel before setting off. She was very informative and happy to explain all sorts of information about the island as we drove to our first stop. During the afternoon we went inside the cathedral caves, down a lava tube saw sulphur steam bubbling from the rock and ended at the cheese tasting bar! Fascinating experience, one I definitely recommend to visitors to this beautiful island.
