Algar do Carvao
ATT: Algar do CarvĂŁo will be closed from Oct 19th 2024 to Mar/Apr 2025 during this period we will be showing a hidden lava tube instead.
Located in the Caldeira Guilherme Moniz, an ancient dormant volcano, in this Algar visitors can descend to a depth of around 100 meters, and observe stalactites that are unique in the world due to their silicate characteristics, and an underground lagoon, with crystal clear waters. It is classified as a Regional Natural Monument.
Furnas do Enxofre is located in the parish of Porto Judeu, in the Municipality of Angra do HeroĂsmo, on the island of Terceira, in the Azores. They constitute a fumarolic field, that is, an area that comprises several outlets of aggressive volcanic gases, at different temperatures, some quite high.

Our guide Carolina was outstanding. Her knowledge and friendliness made it a great tour. The Christmas cave was okay but the other cave was outstanding.

THIS IS THE BEST VALUE I think in Terceira. We saw the top three things...and had an AWESOME guide. She was local, born on island, and knew all the history of the caves, volcanoes, the haunted forest, the furnas,.... all of it. We had such a blast and it was the best 3 hours for $100 total for two people. Def tip the tour guide...
