Overview

Fushimi-Inari Taisha is the most famous Shinto shrine in Japan. Travelers from all over the world flock to visit this part of the world heritage. And we are there! This tour focuses on Mount Inari and its Shinto complex. We meet at the station of your choice then we go to the shrine and climb the mountain together. A healthy mind in a healthy body! Your guide, a graduate in Japanese History and/or certified, will explain the ins and outs of these places, built in the 8th century, and dedicated to Inari, the goddess of rice and harvests, and by extension of trade. It will also be an opportunity for us to go hiking in the countryside and in the mountains. We are waiting for you!

What To Expect

1. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine We pass through the large Torii gate at the entrance to the sanctuary, separating the world of the living from that of the spirits. We then pass through the Romon tower, where the two guardians of the place welcome us. 30 minutes

2. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine We arrive at the main hall, the Honden, where we can greet the goddess Inari, the mistress of the place. Inari is the goddess of rice and harvests, and by extension the protector of trade. Her guardian animal is the fox. 30 minutes

3. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine We climb the mountain via its maze of stairs. This is the highlight of the visit: the whole path is dotted with these 10,000 torii, gates, which make the place famous. It is an opportunity for us to recharge our batteries and feast our eyes. 2 hours

4. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine We arrive at the Mount Inari observatory, which overlooks all of Kyoto. The climb was well worth it! It's an opportunity for us to take pictures and rest from this very sporty climb. After that, we can go back down to the main hall... or, for the more daring, continue to the summit. 30 minutes
