Overview

Experience the Douro Valley, the first demarcated wine region in the world. Take a step back and savor one of the most amazing landscapes in Portugal, connecting with nature and it’s elements. During the Middle Ages, Monasteries, chose this remote area and improved the agriculture tecniques continuing the old tradition of wine making. The discoveries increased the search for, Douro Wines, strong wines that could endure the long voyages. The Douro Valley continued to change, adapt and grow over the centuries. It was by the hand of english merchants that the wines at the Douro Valley started becoming known and appreciated, specially the “new born” Port Wine. The Douro Valley started it’s most glamorous adventure. With this day tour you'll discover a different part of Portugal with an amazing landscape, a breathtaking view, fantastic Port Wine and great food.

1. The Douro Valley The tour starts in Porto and goes all the way to the Douro Valley, where you will visit the Quintas, taste Port Wine and indulge with the gastronomy always surrounded by vineyards and mountains, that will take your breath away during the entire day. 6 hours

AWESOME TOUR

Carlos is an amazing tour guide! He is very kind, professional and fun! My daughter and I did two days of trips with him on the Douro. Both included delicious lunches and time at swimming spots. Be aware the Douro is rocky so some wet shoes would be a good idea for when you go swimming! Beautiful cruising both days! One day we went to a farm and wine tasting. He will curate the tour as you like. Boat is very comfortable but note no shade so don’t forget sunscreen! Easy meet up at the marina. Don’t miss out Carlos is one of a kind!
