Hiroko gave me and my family a private tour of Hakone and she was an excellent guide in all respects. She has great knowledge of the region and speaks excellent English. She struck a difficult balance between giving us plenty of interesting information about what we saw and experienced but without overwhelming us. She answered questions we had and was attentive to everyone’s needs (we were a party of six), particularly my sister-in-law who had difficulty walking on steep slopes and steps. Outstanding tour by Hiroko and Noriko - their local knowledge and expertise elevates your trip beyond the norm - they genuinely care about you having the experiences of a lifetime, and they deliver. In order to see properly see this area of Japan you need to have a car - and cars with drivers are expensive in Japan (well, anywhere, but even more so in Japan) but well worth the extra cost of getting around quickly in a remove area that has few cabs. They handle everything for you - from transportation to meals to tickets to making sure you get to your next destination in Japan - highly recommend.

We took the Rakan tour, starting with a one-hour drive from Hakone to Izu. We visited the charming onsen town of Shuzenji, toured a wasabi farm, enjoyed lunch at Rakan—a farmhouse run by Atsuko—and ended with an unexpected stop at a bonsai garden. The itinerary beautifully showcased Izu's lush, tranquil countryside, a welcome escape from Tokyo's chaos. The wasabi farm was a sight, Atsuko’s farmhouse, at the edge of a bamboo forest, felt like stepping into a Ghibli movie. Atsuko was the chef/artist and you could see her love for what she does through her food. Our guide Noriko was excellent - warm and knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed her company. If you have to do one tour, this ought to be it. Hiroko, who arranged the tour, was prompt, patient, and informative throughout our planning - and there were a lot of changes. In summary: excellent experience, support this great local business!!

Hiroko was a fantastic tour guide and easy to work with throughout the process. My husband and I only had a day in Hakone, and Hiroko adjusted the schedule and logistics to meet us upon our arrival and provide an amazing tour. She balanced the major sites (Lake Ashi cruise, Ropeway, etc.) with authentic / historic Hakone experiences such as the Cedar Avenue and visiting one of the oldest family-run teahouses in Hakone. Hiroko was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout. She made this one of our top experiences in Japan!

This is a must tour for anyone going to Hakone! Shin was a great guide who provided a mix of popular attractions in Hakone along with some hidden gems. Throughout the day, he gave us a great history of Hakone and Japan. Highly recommended!
