Itinerary

Spinalonga (Kalydon)

You will spend this day at the Gulf of Mirabello on the Cretan Riviera. In the morning we will drive to the beautiful village of Elounda. In the harbor of Elounda the boat is waiting for you and the sea trip begins across the blue, shining bay to the Island of Spinalonga. This former leper colony includes preserved houses and churches, and a strong Venetian influence in the form of a fortress surrounding the village. With houses and churches that are more of less well preserved, see the proof of the Venetian occupation in the form of the fortress surrounding the abandoned village. Swim in the crystal blue water before enjoying a BBQ lunch. After returning back to Elounda you will be driven to the small, charming and touristic town of Agios Nicolaos, with its quaint harbor and supposedly "bottomless lake".

Brilliant day out!

Amazing day! Everyone was so friendly! The boat wasn’t over sold so it was comfortable and not too busy. The tour guide was great, lots of information. The food was incredible, was surprised at how much we got included with a drink with lunch also! Lots of time to swim and explore the beach if swimming isn’t your preference! Great value for money with transfer from hotels to the tour boat too, would 100% recommend!

What a wonderful experience made all the better by our tour guide Christina, who was so knowledgeable about Spinalonga as well as the Island of Crete. Would highly recommend doing this tour.

A great historical visit completed on a drizzly day. Stopping at Plakka for lunch too after walking around the island. The history of the island is intriguing especially the incarceration of so many due to their illness.

Excellent guide in the spinalonga tour, he was so knowledgeable and interesting. Boat trip to secluded bay that was very busy. .nice bbq lunch. We stopped at agios Nikolaos and had chance for a spot of shopping. Shame we had no time in elounda

This trip is one of the best experiences I've ever had, the history on that island is astounding, we had Gloria, English speaking tour guide who is so passionate about her job, she tells this story with a positive outlook and one that can you can almost see in your head. If you do one thing in Crete, (we were at Sissi/Vasia Hotel) this is one of the biggest things to do. Also, the water is cold when you get to swim in rhe sea, but after a couple of minutes it warms up and you can swim, just an FYI). Hopefully you get Gloria, she was the cherry on top. From the Kerk Family- 6th June 2022, Sparrow Travel. It was a mesmerising time.
