  • Kritsa

    The traditional village of Kritsa, a historic village rich in legends, gorges, archeological and religious monuments and monuments.

  • Katharo Plataeu

    The Lower Plateau (altitude 1250m), a plateau famous for the Cretan dwarf hippopotamus fossils found in the area. The plateau has a wonderful landscape surrounded by many legends and stories dating back to the Ottoman era.

  • Dikteon Cave

    Lassithi Plateau (altitude 1150m). More than 10,000 traditional windmills operated in the area until a few decades ago. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Plateau was actually one of the first wind farms in Europe. The Diktaio Cave, that is, the birthplace of Zeus, is located in the village of Psychro (altitude 840m).

  • Krasi

    As we descend, we make a short stop in the village of Krasi and photograph the favorite plane of the famous Cretan writer Nikos Kazantzakis. The perimeter of the plane tree is about 24 meters and is estimated to be 2400 years old. It is also said that each measure of its perimeter corresponds to the age of 100 years.

Cave of Zeus by Safari Crete Experience

The tour was excellent, with spectacular sights and views and a delicious lunch included in the price. The driver, Mr Panos, was helpful and professional. Highly recommended.

Really amazing tour, small group in a 4Ă—4 made it feel personal. Panos was accommodating, friendly, personate and really knowledgeable about Crete's history, mythology and present day goings-on. It's clear that he cares about the local bussinesses and the fact that he takes really good photos is a plus. The tour was great, Panos made it phenomenal. Thankyou to him.

Cave of Zeus

Went on holiday to Crete with family and wanted to experience a bit more of Cretes nature. The Safari was a great choice to do that, Panos our driver/Safari tour guide was very informative and knew a lot about history and nature. To get to Zeus of Cave it was a difficult climb especially in the heat but worth it once you get to the top with the gorgeous views. The cave was magnificent, so many stalactites and was actually bigger than I imagined and well lit. Would definitely recommend going on this Safari tour if you like caves and Greek mythology. Thank you Panos for making the tour an unforgettable experience.

The Legend that is Panos

Our guide Panos was great company and very knowledgeable giving us personal guided tours as we stopped at Kritsa plus mind blowing views from the plateaus. He filled us in on the Greek Mythology linked to places and is a great driver. The group was nice as small (4/6) in a good jeep and the trip bespoke - he even stopped to pick us fresh plums up in the mountains. The caves were stunning (good shoes or donkey) and the lunch at a local taverna was very enjoyable. Yammas! I would highly recommend this trip with Panos it was a real pleasure… eferisto :0)
