This full day Private Tour gives you the opportunity to see the Real Side of Crete away from big crowds. We stol at an olive oil factory where we learn all about the Cretan Golden Liquid…… and of course taste a few different olive oils ……

Mochos

We stop at the old village of Mochos to walk through the narrow streets , see the old churches and take a taste of the local way of life , probably have something to drink or enjoy some local food st a family restaurant at the villages main square .

We walk around the picturesque village of Krasi, take some photos of the oldest and biggest Platanus tree in Crete.

Windmills Of Lasithi Plateau

We will see the old wind mills that used to pump the water up from underground to water the crops, and the other wind mills that used to grain ,wheat and corn to make flour .

Outstanding tour - one of the absolute best experiences we had while traveling Greece and Crete. Our guide Stavros was so engaging, fun, and entertaining. The tour took us off the beaten path where we could experience the full flavor of what life is like in Crete. It has left us longing for the delicious food, honey, yogurt, coffee, olive oil, and wine that we had together that day. Trust me, look no further when you are booking your tours - you will not be disappointed! And make sure that Stavros is your guide! This tour will stand out in your memories long after the trip is over.

Great value for an amazing experience

We booked a private tour with Explore Real Crete in October 2024 and were so happy to have booked this experience. After trying a coach trip on a previous holiday and spending most of the day on the coach (!) we were keen to spend more time at the sights and less time travelling. Our guide Stavros was so warm and friendly, and hugely knowledgeable about Crete - he could answer absolutely all of our questions, and helped us learn more about Greek mythology too! We found the tour to be very good value as taxis on Crete are expensive - it would have costed us 100 Euros just to get a return taxi to Knossos Palace from our hotel in Hersonissos, so to have Stavros, with his very comfortable vehicle, and his knowledge, for a whole day, was very much worth the price. We would thoroughly recommend a tour with this company as it was the highlight of our trip to Crete.

Ed/Stavros led my family and me on the best tour of Crete that we could have ever imagined, and we will cherish this special tour experience forever. Ed was extremely knowledgeable about all Greek/Crete history, culture and geography, and he took us to all of the best local, authentic and "non-touristy" spots. Ed's fun and outgoing personality kept the energy high and all of us laughing throughout the scenic roads in the mountains and hills. He provided us with authentic Greek yogurt and fresh honey, lattes from a local village cafe, fresh strawberries, grapes and cucumbers that we picked from fields that he brought us to, wine that we sipped by the ocean, moussaka and grape leaves from a local restaurant in the vineyards and the most interesting olive oil factory tour. It was like traveling with a rockstar--everyone knew and loved him in the the community, which made us feel very comfortable and welcomed at each stop. Ed stopped to take pictures of us at scenic viewpoints, churches, buildings, historical sites and shops he recommended. I honestly doubt that there is a better, kinder, funnier, more exciting and interesting tour guide on Crete or Greece. We had a wonderful experience on this trip to Greece visiting Athens and Santorini, but this tour of Crete was our favorite part. Thank you Ed, you are the best!

Best day in Crete!

Stavros made this the best tour I have ever taken. My friend and I clicked with Stavros immediately and proceeded to have the best, most wonderful day imaginable. The Zeus cave was closed and so we were able to do a few extra things and explore the non-touristy areas of Crete. We also got to go strawberry picking, and it was absolutely wonderful and the strawberries were better than I could have imagined. Everything we did felt so perfectly thought out with a lot of love behind it. I cannot express how amazing Stavros was throughout the whole day, it really felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. He stopped with us at every cat that crossed our path and found us great fruits and flowers that were growing in the villages, making us feel so much closer to the island. I will be coming back to do more tours with him! We will miss that positive energy from him. We love you Stavros!
