Go scuba diving during your Maui vacation! Our Lahaina dive shop is owned and operated by a PADI instructor with 20 years of professional teaching experience. The focus is always on your safety and comfort with small group sizes and excellent scuba equipment. Choose scuba diving with us to get the attention you deserve! PLEASE READ: You MUST be able to swim unassisted in the ocean to book this Beginner Scuba Dive. Private Scuba Diving is REQUIRED when your group has a novice swimmer. Look for our private tour in a separate listing. If your swimming ability is misrepresented, it will lead to removal from this beginner scuba dive and NO REFUND. PLEASE ALSO READ "What to Expect." Meeting points

We meet daily at Kahekili Beach Park in Ka’anapali. Once you turn onto Kai Ala Drive follow the short road straight to the ocean where you will see a big parking lot. You will meet your instructor in the lot. Transportation is not included. Please let us know if you do not have a rental car.

Itinerary

This scuba diving tour requires the ability to swim comfortably in the ocean. Shore diving in Kaanapali, Maui provides year-round perfect ocean conditions to try scuba diving. Under the guidance of your expert dive instructor, you get to learn the basics of scuba diving by practicing a few skills in shallow water and experience an exhilarating scuba dive. Guests often see turtles, eels, and large schools of tropical fish! This Beginner Scuba Dive experience takes about 2 hours. PLEASE READ TO AVOID EXPULSION FROM THE ACTIVITY: Swimming Ability in the ocean is REQUIRED. You must wait at sea level for 18 hours to fly, zipline, or ascend Haleakala AFTER your dive(s). Before scuba diving, you will fill out an important medical statement. You must be able to answer "NO" to each question. Any "YES" ON THE MEDICAL STATEMENT REQUIRES A CLEARANCE FROM YOUR DOCTOR. You can Google "PADI Medical Form" to review this statement. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO EACH OF THE ABOVE 3 STATEMENTS WILL LEAD TO REMOVAL FROM THE EXPERIENCE WITHOUT A REFUND.

  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • Minimum age to participate is 10.
  • Guests should be able to carry a minimum of 30 pounds for a short distance.
  • After diving you must wait 18 hours to fly or ascend to 1,000 feet or more.
  • Guests MUST be comfortable swimming in the ocean to complete this scuba diving tour. If you book this tour but cannot swim, you forfeit your participation in the experience as well as your right to a refund.
  • Must be able to answer NO to each question on the Medical Statement. A YES answer requires a doctor clearance. Failure to secure a doctor clearance when needed forfeits the ability to dive and the right to a refund. Please contact Banyan Tree Divers ahead of time for a copy of the medical form if you have any health concerns that might affect your ability to dive.
  • Transportation not included. Please let us know if you will not have a rental car.
  • Not recommended for travelers with asthma or sinus medical conditions
  • Proficient SWIMMING ABILITY IN THE OCEAN IS REQUIRED. This means that you must be able to swim unassisted in the ocean.

Fun dive with turtles close up

This was the second time I have booked with Banyan Tree Divers. The dive was a beach dive from Kahekili Beach Park (aka Airport Beach) on the west side. Great location so you can hang out at the beach after the dive. We saw about 5 turtles and got some great close up shots of them with our underwater camera. Lots of different fish as well. Highly recommend!

Incredible dive with the best instructor!!!

This exceeded our expectations!!! Our dive guide, Caitlin, was incredible. We are avid snorkelers, but have never been on a dive before. She was super supportive, informative and made all of us feel safe and confident! She was so awesome, we opted to do the second hour. We could actually hear the whales singing when we were underwater. I highly recommend! We plan to go back to Maui within the year and will definitely dive with Banyan and Caitlin again. Oh....and their merchandise is cool. We got a t-shirt....super soft and a great logo.

Great first scuba dive

This was my first scuba dive and Kevin was calm and precise in the training and helped me through some of the first timer anxiety. It was a lot of fun and I would recommend doing it.

This was our first dive. Kevin was wonderful! He was welcoming, understanding, very friendly, and excluded an aura of safety and fun. He also took some great pics the whole way through. We are so sad we couldn’t schedule a second drive this trip, but will absolutely be back with our sons in the future!

Amazing Experience!

Did the beginner scuba dive with Kevin at Kahekili Beach Park and had a wonderful experience! This was my first time back in scuba gear in 40 years and Kevin was very patient and knowledgeable. His demeanor put you at ease. The gear was all in great condition and had no issues on the dives (did another). The reef was teaming with a wide variety of fish but also saw turtles, an eagle ray and an octopus. It was an excellent experience, well worth the money, and I highly recommend Kevin and Banyan Tree Divers.
