Overview

A tour of the three neighborhoods in the historic center of the Sassi with panoramic stops and curiosities on the recent history of the city of Matera: from national shame to a city known and appreciated worldwide. The path lasts about an hour and in this time visitors will be able to observe the area of the Piano, that is the part behind the Sassi and learn about the historical places from another perspective. The area of the Piano is actually the first area built immediately after the Sassi at the turn of the Renaissance.

Vito was wonderful!!! This is a great tour of Matera. He brought us all over the city and we learned so much. It’s a perfect length….do this at the beginning of your time in Matera, and then you will know where you want to explore. Thank you Vito!

Vito was an excellent tour guide, who grew up in Matera and had extensive knowledge of the history of Matera. Vito was very pleasant and a very safe Tuk-Tuk driver. We had briefly walked the historic cave city the day before, but didn't understand that most of the caves actually look like a normal building, due to their building-like facade.

Vito did a great job of showing us Matera and telling us the history of Matera . Lots of stairs so the tuk tuk is the way to go to still see the town but ride . Beautiful city
