Colosseum

Your fabulous Charming VIP Ancient Rome Shore excursion will begin as your English Speaking Driver picks you up you up from your cruise at the Civitavecchia Port and chauffeurs you to Rome city Center. In an elegant and comfortable Mercedes Benz Vehicle you will be chauffeured to the first stop of your tour: Colosseum and Roman Forum! Admire the glorious Flavian Amphitheatre, one of the capital's most remarkable monuments. During the Roman Empire the Roman Colosseum allowed more than 50,000 people to enjoy its finest spectacles. The exhibitions of exotic animals, executions of prisoners, recreations of battles and gladiator fights kept the Roman people entertained for years.

Circo Massimo

Move on with the tour and reach Circus Maximus, the largest stadium in Ancient Rome, built for chariot races. Imagine to be taking part of one of the Circus Maximus chariot races competitions in which participants tried to complete seven laps of the Circus Maximus. The competitors, mounted in small chariots drawn by horses, gambled much more than their prestige or large prizes in the races, since many of them were slaves fighting for their liberty.

Palatine Hill

The Palatine Hill is one of the Seven Hills of Rome and it is one of the most ancient parts of the city as it stands right above the Roman Forum and upon the Circus Maximus.

Colle Aventino

You will then visit the Aventine Hill and enjoy the Secret Keyhole view. The keyhole vista lines up perfectly with the garden, centered on the St. Peter’s Cupola in the distance. The doorway in question leads to the Priory of the Knights of Malta, the legendary crusader knights!

Piazza del Campidoglio

Of course once that you will have visited the Circus Maximus, you cannot miss the chance to admire the Campidoglio (Capitoline Hill)! It is inevitable that you will be charmed by the stunning panoramas of the Roman Forum from there.

Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II

Our next stop will be Venezia Square, where is placed the Altare della Patria! This national Monument is dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II and was inaugurated in 1911 as a tribute to the first king of Italy after the country's unification.

Pantheon

The lovely Pantheon is the following attraction to visit. Located in Piazza della Rotonda, it was first built as a temple to roman gods, nowadays is considered as the best conserved Ancient Roman monument, and what’s more interesting is that nobody is sure about its age. Get impressed by its famous hole in the roof, that on summer days gives a beautiful spectacle inside.

Afterwards we will go to Trevi Fountain, where you can partake in the coin-throwing tradition!

Alex was amazing! Took us to see everything we wanted! Suggested a great local restaurant that was delicious. We will definitely use this company again in the future!

Exactly what we were hoping for

We had an excellent experience on our Ancient Rome Shore Excursion. Viator and the tour company Best Rome Drivers did a stellar job in making the set-up and communications to confirm trip details super easy. Our driver, Claudio, was a true gentleman. He knew exactly where to go to show us all of the highlights of Rome. I would highly recommend this tour and definitely request Claudio!

He was a wealth of knowledge about the history of Rome for our tour. He made great timing decisions to avoid traffic and tourist lines. He changed the timing of the itinerary and added a couple stops. We had several opportunities to see the eternal city from outlook’s over looking Roma. Great tour and will book him in the future.

Excellent guide by Alex and his knowledge is top notch as he brought us to all the hot spots and some secret off the beat beautiful spots, highly recommend and worth the money!
