Overview

Grasmere and Hawkshead are certainly two of the most traditional, historical and adorable villages in the Lake District. On this tour you will visit both of these villages along with Tarn Hows and Blea Tarn, two of Lakeland's most popular and charming tarns. Picture perfect villages, unspoilt valleys, tarns, lakes and many more hidden gems are all part of this 6 hour tour.

Itinerary

  • Bowness-on-Windermere

    Drive through Bowness and stopping at Adelaide hill viewpoint, Gummers how and the viewpoint near Brantfell. All of which are excellent photo opportunities.

  • Ambleside

    We take a brief stop at Waterhead in Ambleside situated at the head of Lake Windermere.

    15 minutes

  • Rydal

    Enjoy a short walk to Rydal Falls or take a walk to Rydal cave next Rydal water.

    45 minutes

  • Grasmere

    William Wordsworth called Grasmere "The loveliest spot that man hath ever found." Whilst in Grasmere visit the famous "Grasmere gingerbread shop."

    30 minutes

  • Great Langdale (Pass By)

    The great Langdale valley is some 12,170 acres, much of it in the care of the National trust, who have 10 farms here. Elterwater and Chapelstile are two beautiful villages you will see here.

  • Blea Tarn

    We take the spectacular drive from Great Langdale to Little Langdale to visit Blea Tarn, probably the highlight of the valley for many.

  • Coniston Water (Pass By)

    Condition Water is one of the most imposing and beautiful of the English lakes. The Lake is dominated by the "Old man of Coniston" which rises to 803 metres.

  • Tarn Hows

    Tarn Hows is one of the top scenic destinations in the North West of England. It is a beauty spot that must not be missed.

    Hawkshead is an ancient township that has flourished since Norse times, with many buildings dating from the 17th century.

Wonderful trip with a friendly knowledgeable driver. David took the time to slightly change the itinerary to accommodate us ladies of a certain age ! We definitely saw areas of the Lake District that we would otherwise not have seen. Wonderful day.

David is an amazing tour guide and he made our trip wonderful more than we expected! He knows almost, if not all, about Lake District. We learned a lot, in a very enjoyeable way, as he cracks jokes whilst telling us about the places we’ve visited.

Beautiful weather and resourceful guide

The tour was outstanding, thanks to our amazing tour guide David and beauty of Lake district off course. David shared lot of interesting information about different places which was made our tour lively. The old photos shared by him were simply awesome. He has got nice sense of humor. I had two children with me and David went extra mile to adjust our itinerary. This was memorable trip indeed !
