Overview

Embark on a full-day adventure exploring the Western Lake District’s hidden gems and captivating scenery. Drive over Wrynose Pass, with its steep, winding route and spectacular views. Your driver-guide will share fascinating insights as we navigate one of Britain’s steepest mountain roads. Then, prepare for the legendary Hardknott Pass, another of Britain’s most challenging roads. Along the route, you’ll pass Hardknott Roman Fort, perched 1,000 feet up on the fells. After descending into the Eskdale Valley, you’ll arrive at Muncaster Castle, where a delicious lunch awaits. Enjoy the castle’s magnificent grounds and historic charm, adding a special touch to your day. The afternoon takes you to Wast Water in Wasdale Valley, renowned as “Britain’s Favourite View.” Framed by peaks including Scafell Pike, Red Pike, and Great Gable, Wast Water is England’s deepest lake, known for its striking beauty and dramatic atmosphere.

Was way more than we expected

This is a great tour that takes you through a he high passes in the Lake District, and a visit to Interesting places. Trip to Muncaster Castle was a delight with the Birds of Prey demonstration being a key highlight. Tony our driver and guide is a pro driver and has a strong knowledge of the landscape and history. Very enjoyable day!

This full day tour was fabulous! Our driver, Duncan was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable. Muncaster Castle was a real highlight! We highly recommend this tour.

The route and the views were spectacular. Our driver Mark Shipley was a magnificent source of local information and fascinating stories. His personality and driving skills just made the day perfect.
