Classic Boats - Shared Raft: This is the classic 8 mile whitewater rafting trip experience down the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. There are non-paddling and paddling positions.

Overview

This is the classic whitewater rafting trip experience down the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. It doesn't take all day, but you'll wish it did. The rapids are fun and the calm sections of river let you relax and enjoy the scenery all around you. There are non-paddling and paddling positions in this raft all watched over by an experienced whitewater rafting guide. River Class I-III (easy to moderate).

Meeting points

When: 30 minutes prior to your scheduled trip time Where: Mad River, 1255 South Highway 89 Jackson Wyoming 83001. Just 2 miles south of the town square, between Whole Grocer and Smith’s Grocery. Transportation from the Mad River Boat Wedge to the river and back is provided on every Mad River trip.

Our professional, experienced river trip guides will navigate you through the twists and turns of the Snake River Canyon while pointing out the flora, fauna, geology, and history that make this area so unique. Whether you bring your family or come with friends, we can assure you that Snake River rafting will be the highlight of your trip to Jackson Hole!

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Please wear shoes that can get wet that will not fall off your feet. An old pair of running shoes or water shoes would be your best option. You must wear footwear in the raft, so we do have booties available for rent if you do not have footwear. Sizes run 2 – 15 and can be rented upon arrival for $5.00 per pair.
Please wear synthetic clothing if possible and bring layers. Synthetics are best for the river because they dry faster than cotton. A bathing suit underneath shorts and a t-shirt is fine for a nice, warm, summer day.
Conditions can be variable; you may experience a cold day on the river. (Not to worry, it will still be a lot of fun. You just have to dress appropriately!)
We have wet suits & wet suit jackets available for rent. Wet suits are $10.00 to rent. Wet suit jackets are $5.00 to rent.
Splash gear is complimentary. On a cold day, you’ll want a bathing suit to wear under the wet suit.
Bring a change of dry clothes and a towel!
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are highly recommended.

Fabulous! Our hesitate family members even enjoyed the experience! Make sure you have shoes and clothing that are changeable. You will get very wet. Bring a change of clothes and shoes. There are large bathrooms to change once you return on the bus.

Had a wonderfully fun time on the whitewater adventure with my husband and 2 adult daughters. Pony Boy was our guide, kept it fun and let us all get a try at guiding the raft. Definitely enough rapids to make it exciting, but also calm water to enjoy the views. Highly recommend!

The entire experience was terrific! If you are in Jackson Hole don’t miss it. Our guide, Ree, was professional, knowledgeable and made the trip exciting. I would be remiss if I didn’t complement the tour operator, Mad River Boat Trips and Viator - both great companies with great teams. They both worked really hard to makes sure this was a highlight of our visit. Next time we visit JH we will be booking another trip with both!
