Playa de Sotavento
A nine-kilometre-long pristine beach in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura should really only be translated with one word: beaches. That is why summarizing the beach of Sotavento in the south of Jandia as spectacular is easy: it is the most talked about beach on the island in the world. Its size alone, about nine kilometres long, leaves visitors speechless. At low tide, the island gains so much ground that some residents doubt whether Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands!
A short photo stop is included…
10 minutes
Finca Benigno
Visit to a local goat farm/cheese factory. Possibility to buy fresh cheese!
We rake the time to visit the local habitants “the goats” with the opportunity to purchase fresh local cheese in the goat farm ..
30 minutes
Monumento Natural de Ajuy
Walk to the spectacular Ajuy caves, which are the oldest formations in the Canary Islands.
They belong to the basal complex of Fuerteventura, created by the submarine flow of lava and sediment that rose to the surface and began to form the island 100 million years ago in the Cretaceous period.
The rocks emerged from a depth of 3,000 metres and started to form the base that these days supports this island and that of Lanzarote.
The caves are extremely important from a geological and paleontological perspective and are among the 150 sites of primary geological interest in the world. Visiting them means travelling back in time to the very origins of Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands themselves.
Did you knew?
• Walk to Ajuy caves are one of these examples of nature. Declared a Natural Monument in 1987, they are part of Betancuria Rural Park.
• It was the place where Jean de Béthencourt, the conqueror of the Canary Islands, landed in the 15th century.

Also the place where the first airport (1930) was and the first tourists arrived.
Montana de Tindaya (Pass By)
The most striking monument in the village is the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Caridad, a small temple that has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.
The volcano Tindaya has been declared a Natural Monument due to the scientific importance of its geomorphological structure, as well as a point of cultural interest due to its archaeological values, especially due to the abundance of podomorphic petroglyphs and the sacred character given by the majos, first pre-Hispanic settlers of the island.
It also has the presence of some rare endemisms such as Caralluma burchardii, fleshy plants with the appearance of cacti.
3 km south of the city, at the foot of Mount Quemada, stands the monument in honor of Miguel de Unamuno.
Pajara (Pass By)
Pájara is one of the oldest towns in Fuerteventura and was a very early settlement of Betancuria. It survived the complete destruction during the Arab invasion of 1593, when all of Betancuria was reduced to dust. The town takes its name from the hen pheasant, as shown on its coat of arms.

Tequital (Pass By)
Tequital is located southeast of the municipality of Tuineje, Fueryeventura, its landscape is purely volcanic due to a large mantle of lava from the last eruptions on the island.

Considering the sand storm we still managed to see a lot of great sights, Betancuria was small but beautiful very quaint town.
Andrew was very informative from a historical perspective. We appreciated his knowledge about Fuerteventura’s past, the influence of different cultures, and the role of the island in trade routes. It gave me a deeper understanding of the island.
Yes, the tour exceeded our expectations. It was well-organized, covered a good variety of locations, and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I particularly enjoyed the balance between scenic views and historical insights, which made the experience both relaxing and educational. I would definitely recommend it to others.
Don't miss this fascinating tour of the "real" mystical and beautiful Fuertaventura

Fantastic journey away from the usual touristy areas exploring the unspoilt wild, rugged volcanic landscape of this beautiful island as well as remote and secluded villages. Our guide Andrew was charming, knowledgeable, interesting, and funny. As we were a small group it was easy to hear our guide and ask questions. The tour was tailored to suit the group really well. The lunch stop was in an area of outstanding beauty . I was a bit worried about the length of the tour but it went very quickly as we drove through stunning scenery. Would thoroughly recommend this trip.

The trip was well worth the money and I would recommend it to anybody who wants to see the real Fuerteventura.
