Despite the fact that Coal Harbour is right downtown, it’s a surprisingly calm little neighbourhood, right on the water’s edge. It’s even more surprising given its industrial history as a former shipyard sitting right next to the railway terminus. The area starts at Canada Place and stretches west to Stanley Park, and is bordered by Burrard Inlet to the north, West Georgia Street to the south. Coal Harbour is a charming mix of business and residential, being home to both the Vancouver Convention Centre as well as condo towers.

Robson Street was one of the first streets in Vancouver, and was named in honour of John Robson, Premier of British Columbia from 1889-1892. Yaletown was once the Western terminus for the Canadian Pacific Railway, but the area’s more recent reinvention dates back to 1986 when the waterfront along the north of False Creek was host to many of the venues when Vancouver hosted the World’s Fair. Since then that land, along with the warehouse district adjoining it have been transformed into one of the city’s chicest neighbourhoods, filled with residential loft spaces, sidewalk cafes, cool restaurants, unique shopping, and leafy parks. Five Star Tour, They Really Care About You
Published on May, 2024
We booked with Globalduniya because we wanted a private tour that was flexible and totally up to us. Anant was very helpful setting up the tour. After speaking with me for a bit, he was able to provide suggestions tailored to our schedule and preferences.
Our tour guide Shannon was just as helpful. First she texted the day before to confirm our tour and again an hour before to suggest an excellent location at the airport to pick us up. Very easy. She spent some time, as Anant did, getting to know us and what we hoped to see. She suggested an itinerary that would make the most of our time and provide flexibility as the weather report was calling for rain later. She was able to get the outdoor/walking activities concluded before the rain and photo ops continued into the late afternoon. She was extremely knowledgeable in the history, geography, and current affairs of the greater Vancouver area. I ask a lot of questions, and she always knew the answer. She not only got the best out of our time, but she returned us to the airport at our desired time even though the rush hour traffic was against it.
I could go on with more details to make the point, but suffice it to say both Globalduniya and Shannon provided an excellent tour and made what could have been a dull day into one of the highlights of our BC vacation.
Thanks Shannon,
Scott
