Overview

The tour takes us to discover the most geographically rugged and remote area of São Miguel Island. Following by the southern coast, we'll arrive to the village of Povoação, where we will stop to taste the famous "Fofas da Povoação" (local pastry). Then, our tour continues to the most flowery municipality of São Miguel Island, Nordeste. We will have the opportunity to enjoy the landscapes led by viewpoints of Ponta do Sossego and Ponta da Madrugada overlooking the coast of the villages. We will admire the ancient water mills of the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Park, where for decades the cereals of the surrounding parishes where grinded. The tour also includes passage in Gorreana Tea factory, one of the few existing in Europe and the oldest of our island, with a taste of the different teas produced there. The return to Ponta Delgada is made by north Coast, from which one can admire the way the sea and the winds of the North quadrant shaped the northern hillsides.

Excellent guides

We traveled with Diogo and Eduardo on two different days both were fantastic guides. They were ver knowledgeable and funny and had lots of stories to share and made our day fun. Relaxing and memorable. We had such a wonderful time that we are planning to come back during the summer to experience the beautiful flowers and views. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Our tour guide, Francesco, was amazing! He gave the tour in both Portuguese and English, and really took care of us. Our trip was on a rainy, foggy day, which meant we had to skip some of our tour stops. He was able to squeeze in a few extra stops just to make our trip awesome! He was fun, had a great sense of humor, and was very accomidating and knowlegable. We definitely recommend this tour!

Beautiful island tour

This was a great tour and we saw so many things. Eduardo was our guide and he was great -- knowledgable and friendly and a good driver. My favorite part was Ponta (or miraduro) da Madurgada. The views from this point are amazing and I loved the park area, where you can walk down several levels along the slope of the hill and gardeners have created lovely picnic areas.. We stopped for lunch at a little restaurant, but we got a full plate of food! you can choose meat or fish. Myself and my fellow tourist choose the meat. We got big piece of chicken and beef, salad and potatoes. Beer or wine was inlcuded with the meal and also dessart. We were fortunate that since it was just 2 people we were able 'customize' out trip a little.
