    Vast thermal complex, dating back to the III-IV century AD, which extended into the area of Piazza Duomo. The thermal plant was made up of numerous rooms, but the only portion remained accessible is located just below the cathedral

From the original "ecclesia munita" of the Norman era, to the current Baroque Cathedral, a history of destruction and reconstruction through the centuries and the faith of the citizens of the Etna city.

    A mysterious place, hidden 12 meters below street level, under the imposing lava front of 1669, which tells an ancient and fascinating legend of love and freedom.

Wonderful experience

This was one of the highlights of our holiday. Oreste really brought Catania to life, and was very clear in explaining the history to us. We would wholeheartedly recommend this tour. We wish we had done it earlier in our holiday to fully understand the city and what was beneath our feet.

This was a terrific tour - both under as well as above ground. Catania is a place where much of its history (due to earthquakes and volcanic eruption) lies beneath street level. Matilde is a delightful guide, sharing her love of the past with a view to the present. She showed us places we would have never found or even thought to seek out. Plus an entertaining commentary on present-day Catania made for an enjoyable and informative morning. Be sure to include it on your Sicily itinerary.
