Overview

The Reggia of Caserta is a jewel in southern Italy. Built in 1750 by the Bourbon King Charles of Naples, this royal palace features 1,200 lavish rooms and gardens that rival European contemporaries. Ciro, one of our local guides, says, ‘Discover what inspired the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli, looking closely at his work, and delve into the history of its 100-year construction during a pre-unified Italy.' Marvel at the illusion of the gardens that stretch to the horizon. Fountains, sculptures and waterfalls inspired by classical mythology. You’ll get your dose of nature among the native and exotic plants of the English Gardens, with more pools, lakes and temples. Inside the palace, walk up the immense Grand Staircase. Explore the opulent rooms of the Royal Apartments decorated with frescoes, gold, chandeliers and baroque furniture. You’ll also see the chapel and theater, a mini version of Naples’ Teatro San Carlo. They’ll leave you in complete awe.

Please meet your guide at Piazza Carlo di Borbone at the central entrance of the Royal Palace. Please be at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the start of the tour. The guide will be holding a TUI sign.

Two Gems - Caserta Palace & Alessia

The palace is incredible and the gardens well worth the time. Our tour guide (Alessia) was exceptional. She was very engaging with our small group of five. She was incredibly knowledgeable of the palace, its history and the royal players. We were unable to stump her with a question. Her English, while accented with her Napoli roots, was very easy to understand. I highly recommend a tour with Alessia!!

Caserta Palace was beautiful. Alessia was fantastic, I don’t usually do guided tours due to worry of it being boring but this was not the case. Very informative but also entertaining. Alessia had a great set of humour. Really enjoyed the tour and the place!

This guided tour was marvelous! Don't miss this opportunity, visiting the royal palace in Caserta with Alessia. At first, we thought, it will be just another famous building, but with our guide, we could discover secrets about blindfolded cupid's statues, codex browsing contraption, even the throne room floor and Tom Cruise! The guide's passionate, enhtusiastic demonstration brings life into this old museum. We absolutely recommend this tour!

Tree hours well spent!

We started the day with a bit with loads doubts due to the weather conditions. But Alesia ensured us that that this wouldn't effect our visit to the palace. And she was right. She was so knowledgeable, informative and fun to talk with. After an hous we didn't even rememeber that it was raining. After the tree hours tour she also suggested us a few places around to eat and wait for the sun to shine again. We strongly raccomend Alesia for this tour. Grazie....
