    Corso Umberto is the main street of Taormina

  • Piazza Duomo (Pass By)

    Piazza Duomo is situated in the historical centre of Taormina and is the meeting point from where the visit of Corso Umberto I, the main street, starts.

  • Quattro Fontane di Taormina (Pass By)

    The fountain is built in Baroque style and takes its name "4 fountains" from the four small columns that are located at the four corners of the central body and which are surmounted by four seahorses from whose mouth came the water that ended in the trays below.

  • Palazzo Ciampoli di Taormina (Pass By)

    Palazzo Ciampoli was a stately residence in Catalan style.

  • Duomo di Taormina

    The Cathedral Fortress, as the Cathedral of Taormina was defined, was built around 1400 on the ruins of a small church from the Middle Ages and dedicated to San Nicola di Bari.

    This church is situated close to the Torre dell'orologio, overlooking the IX April square.

  • Chiesa di Santa Caterina

    The church rises on the ruins of Odeon, built also on the ruins of a Greek theatre dedicated to Aphrodite

Castelmola & Taormina

We booked the Castelmola & Taormina trip and were very impressed with whole experience. It started off with a wonderful drive through the hills and tunnels following the coastline which had spectacular views. We visited Castelmola first where we took a walk through the small village and made our way to the top where we had magnificent views of the mountainside and coast. We then visited Taormina where we received an excellent walking tour from Gabrielle who highlighted all the significant historical landmarks as well as gave us some restaurant recommendations that were fantastic.

After an unexpected port change our cruise ended up stopping in Messina. And boy are we glad we were able to experience the beautiful towns of Taormina and Castelmola. Our guide Sara was amazing and exceeded our expectations. We will be back to Sicily and when we return will be booking with Sara!

Perfect day excursion in Messina

Taormina and Castelmola Shore Excursion 6hrs Excellent tour for our cruise ship visit. The guide & tour company reps met us on the pier and were easy to find, and all very well organised. During the drive we were given lots of interesting information on Sicily. In beautiful Castelmola we had a short walking tour followed by some free time to explore more or have coffee and enjoy the amazing views. In Taormina we had a full hour walking tour through the length of the town - so fascinating and interesting and beautiful! We then had free time to wander and explore, to shop, to eat, and to relax and enjoy this gorgeous town. The guide pointed out recommended places to eat etc. The coach brought us back to the ship pier, on time. Overall a really excellent tour that was good value for money, esp when compared to the Cruise line excursions on offer. We had a perfect day in Messina/ Sicily. Highly recommended!

The excellent communication via WhatsApp is commendable. Updates and detailed instructions ie. meeting time, location and staff name was very helpful. I will recommend Viator to family and friends. Sara, our tour guide was excellent. She is highly knowledgeable and speaks fluent English which is important. Timely meeting place and coordination was excellent.

GABRIELLA was awesome. She was patient with latecomers and stragglers, gave us great insight and information. Really enjoyed the locations and the experience. Highly recommend. Messina was a stop on our cruise and I am glad I chose this tour vs one of the cruise excursions.
