    Founded in 1771 Clement XIV and enlarged by his successor Pius VI, Pio-Clementino Museum houses works of Greek and Roman sculpture.

  • Sistine Chapel

    Built between 1473 and 1481, the Sistine Chapel it is the site of the papal conclave, the process by which a new pope is selected. The fame of the Sistine Chapel lies mainly in the frescoes that decorate the interior, most particularly the Sistine Chapel ceiling and The Last Judgment, both by Michelangelo. At the end of the tour if the passage to the St. Peter’s Basilica is open the guide will lead the group to the Basilica.

It was a beautiful experience and seeing the art within the Vatican and the Sistine chapel is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Even though I went in a low season, it was still very crowded, so booking a tour to skip the lines was a great idea.

This was a must. As promised skipped all the lines-which were very very long. I recommend messaging/chatting with the operator before all Viator tours as we learned the hard way by missing one that some have the guide meet you on the street and others meet at a business location. This one was a business front. Marcelo, our guide was great and asked what we wanted to emphasize as there is so much to see at the Vatican, it would take days to see it all! His discussion of Raphael’s frescos and the Sistine chapel was superb. I would definitely recommend!
