Overview

During your visit to Mazatlan, you should not miss this trip which is considered the best colonial sightseeing tour in the area. Get off of the beaten track visiting the colonial towns of Concordia and Malpica right in the Sierra Madre Mountains, two quaint colorful villages where natives carve wooden furniture by hand, making pottery, roof tiles and pastries. Be impressed by the stone temple, San Sebastian (in Concordia). IF YOU ARE COMING ON A CRUISE SHIP, WE WILL ADJUST THE TIMING OF YOUR TOUR TO FIT WITHIN THE SHIP'S SCHEDULE

Itinerary

  • Concordia

Your first stop will be made at a rustic brick factory where bricks are made by hand, located at the banks of the Presidio River. Continuing on to the visit to Malpica, an small community where two friendly families started their home businesses: A rustic oven bakery and a handmade artistic floor tile shop using a tile press over 100 years old. Concordia was founded in 1565 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Ibarra, who was the pioneer of the mining industry in the state of Sinaloa and both villages were strategically settled near the silver and gold mining sites. Concordia is a very industrious town, its residents make their daily living working in furniture factories and potteries. Beautiful colonial architecture can be admired here, the most emblematic buildings are: The San Sebastian’s temple made of pink stone, the French style city hall and the main plaza with a huge rocking chair up front. Enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch before heading back to Mazatlan.

VERY CULTURAL

Published on Apr, 2024

Absolutely wonderful!!!! Hubby & I had Carlos Mendas as our personal guide. We could choose p/u time. Went to see Malpica, Concordia & Copala. Carlos extremely knowledgeable about history & culture. Provided beer, water, soda and a fabulous lunch. Very calm, relaxing tour we could do at our own pace... .HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Booked Carlos thru Nexus Tours. This is not your typical touristy thing

Charming tour

Published on Apr, 2024

Really enjoyed the tour with Jesus. The little towns were charming and I was able to see some things I didn’t get to see in Mazatlán. Drinks in van were plentiful and my kids liked seeing tile making and picking out pastries.

Pleasant all-day outing

Published on Apr, 2024

Great day trip to see a little more of the region and see some traditional artisans at work. Our guide and driver, Jesus, was very kind, friendly, and easy-going AND is a safe and thoughtful driver! Our group of 4 were picked up at our vacation rental apartment on time--though we didn't get confirmation of the pickup time until early that morning when we checked our email. (I would recommend that the tour operator clarify that the pick-up times will be between, say, 9:00-10:00 so that people have an understanding of the time frame in advance.) - Lunch at the restaurant in Copala was OK. Nothing special. - AC in the van uses recirculated air, so I think we were all ready to pass out on the way back to Mazatlán!! LOL - Another member of the group had apparently signed up for an extra tour of historic Mazatlán, though that was not made clear to us. Jesus accommodated us nicely and dropped our group off while the others had a chance to visit the cathedral. Overall, it was a very pleasant outing. We really enjoyed it and it was a great way to cap off our 4 days in MAZ.

Amazing educational tour

Published on Apr, 2024

Humberto was a fantastic guide! Our party of nine consisted of four teenagers and five adults, and Humberto made an effort to keep all the kids engaged throughout the day. We much appreciated the history and other information Humberto shared with us at each location and during the drive. Btw, if you’re into birds, Humberto is your guy. The bakery in Malpica bakes the absolute best cinnamon rolls (the other baked goods were also fantastic). We selected the “lunch included” option — one of our kids is vegetarian, and the staff at the ranch prepared a vegetarian plate for her, which we greatly appreciated. If you’re interested in an educational experience away from the touristy area of Mazatlan, we highly recommend this tour.
