Overview

Take a walking tour of Segovia, a city rich in historical monuments. See the magnificent Roman Aqueduct from the time of Emperor Augustus. Soak in its rich architectural heritage by following your guide to the Gothic-style Cathedral. Then, cross the Canonjías neighborhood until you come to the Alcazar of Segovia, one of the most spectacular fortresses in all of Spain to discover its exterior the legends and glorious past. Finally, continue on to Avila, one of Spain’s oldest cities. Marvel at its well-preserved, castle-like walls dating from the 11th century. Enter the old quarters which house important Romanesque churches, Gothic palaces, and the city’s 12th-century Gothic cathedral. Walk by the exterior of the Avila Cathedral, admdire the Romanesque Basilica of San Vicente, and visit the central town square of Plaza Mayor. Take a short walk through the city’s old streets to the Convent of Saint Teresa.

Our guide Patricia was great, hardest working your guide on the ground. As a day trip from Madrid it was super efficient and pleasurable. This was the first tour we’ve done. This would be my recommendation: Skip the meal and tour of cathedral in Segovia- to have more time exploring the city. We enjoyed the experience of the meal, but it took all of our time. Do the walk along the city wall in Avila, I was traveling in low tourist time and could have just purchased entrance ticket separately at time of tour. We had no expectations and ended the day happy and satisfied with our choice. Patricia narrates in Spanish and in English- and she does a really good job of it.
